As mentioned in another thread, Whitlock is back and Burgos is up as the 27th man.  Presumably Olds is back in Worcester….

I guess we could hold a 1-0 win to match the Yankees last night.

Just need another pitching gem with perfection by Bennett and Chapman

Bennett performing very well. once again giving the Sox a chance to break this game open.

But remind me, what is it that AR does well ?

My guess he's not even 50% healthy.

He's at 35% in throwing runners out. That's all I've got

Contrares' stats are dropping as fast as an Acme anvil.

Willson is concerning because the Sox need a hitter to be effective in mid lineup

Sogard's saved the run after the GG CF misjudged the ball.

Durbin provided no help earlier

Bennett showed up as a real pitcher to shut the BS down

If the Sox had gotten Rutschman thru Amazon, there's a 30 day return policy.

But I don't believe that return policy is in effect if you purchase a damaged item.

Why is Sogard not on third?   I didn't see anyone call time, but I assume someone did.

My guess he's still not 100% healthy and obviously out of rhythm. Gonna take little more time for the latter. What I like about him is his discipline at plate and pitch recognition. One of the best of the game especially for a catcher —from there, you can (re)build a lot of good things. Not worried at all.

He's in his lowest though, one more reason to extend him now. You don't give that haul for a year and half of service.

As a Sox fan I hope you're right. My stance is the Sox didn't need a catcher, they needed another starter, which Brez could have gotten with the haul he gave the O's.

There may be preliminary discussions about contracts but nothing will get done until the new CBA gets finalized  next summer.

Owners/FO need to know the rules and any limitations before making $100 million commitments

I think we needed both.

Narvaez has been even worse than .535 with BOS (.295 w BAL,) and Wong is not very good on defense and inconsistent on offense. If Rut was raking, we'd be saying this is what we needed. I think it was a good stab at boosting the offense- just as getting Mead was.

I totally agree on the "shoulda added a SP'er" point... just not instead of a catcher.

BTW, Wong is at .671 since the trade and .572 in his last 15 games. We needed a bat, and Catcher was our weakest area on offense- this year and going into 2027.

We just need Rutschman to start hitting just .725 or better. If he can hit .800+ we will see things differently.
