Catch the ball Wong.

You are asking too much out of Wong in that situation. He can either hit OR have a good defensive season. He can't do both at the same time.

And the Beatles were named after the Crickets, which was incredibly audacious at the time.

Modern readers might think they were taciturn. But the "a" in their name wasn't a typo; they wanted everyone to focus on "the beat" in their tunes.

In modern slanguage, any band named just Crickets today would sound awfully quiet...

... and yet, who here has ever had an actual cricket trapped in their sunroom? Loud as hell, and impossible to catch!

Yup, I don't remember who said it, but someone asked "Are you like Fats Domino?" and the response was "No, I'm more like a Chubby Checker".  And the Beatles were named after the Crickets, which was incredibly audacious at the time.

And the Byrds were named after the Beatles, which is why they spelled it incorrectly…

Little known fact - if you count the beats in the first 14 seconds of any Crickets song and add 40, you get the temperature in Fahrenheit…

Fahrenheit actually moved the silent "gh" from the final syllable and stuck the h more up front. But he left g out -- even though it sits between f and a of the standard musical alphabet.

Otherwise, Fgahrenheit would look awkward... plus, some goombas in my family told him Fgedaboudit.

I thought he was doing both this year?

-3 DRS

-7 FRV

31st percentile caught stealing

5th percentile framing

24th percentile pop time

Sox could have won the game before the 11th inning last night if Wong was an average catcher.

I don't even think Wong should be pitching.

He was calling the freaking pitch selection.

That doesn't mean he controls where the pitch goes.  If the pitcher throws it three inches outside, there is not a single thing in the world he can do about it.  Unless you think he intentionally told the pitcher to throw balls instead of strikes.

He only needed to call fastballs instead of trying to dot the strike zone. Obviously he didn’t. The rest is history. That’s the point.

Don't the pitch calls come from the dugout?
