I’m willing to bet the other player wasn’t Duran, who is expensive (by Pittsburgh standards) and awful (by any standard).

Marcelo Mayer maked more sense. He’s cheap and can fill in at SS with Konnor Griffin out…

How about a third team taking Duran, and giving something to PIT.

PIT may be sellers and take Mayer.

With Mayer hurt ( oh yeah), I suppose it’s also possible the other player they want is Contreras…

I got no problem moving Mayer, for the right price

I think Duran is clearly not going anywhere

Duran likely stays due to lack of interest.  At some point, the question is “do you dump him?”

They’re clearly not sellers yet, as expressed by their interest in Garrett Whitlock…

I think it's very cute that they're interested in Whitlock.  😄

Things can change in the next 3 weeks.

Sure, they could make a huge mistake and start buying players.

Yup, especially if the players we buy cost us Arias or Eyanson and maybe even Witherspoon.

Which also seems like a good reason for us to keep him.

Agree! Why would Sox trade Whitlock if they are currently 1/2 game out of the last wild card. They should be adding a right-handed bat (The one we should have got during last off season).
