I didn't look that up because I watched the nationals recently and could have sworn he was on the right side, my bad

It's all good.

I don't know how that guy gets to keep cashing checks? Maybe his sense of humor?

Good player, but we might be buying high.  He's had a fairly pedestrian career so far.  He's having a good year, but his HR/FB of 23% is likely unsustainable.  He was scorching hot, but went 1-16 in his last 5 games with 5 Ks.  And the Nats sat him on the 17and 19th.  It's pretty unusual to see regulars benched in two games so close together.  It feels like an undisclosed injury or something.

Lefty starting pitchers.

He’s being platooned with Andres Chaparro…

Goodman, Langeliers, and now someone is suggesting Tyler Stephenson (not actually tearing the cover off the ball this year)...

... but I'm wary transitioning to a new starting catcher that the pitching staff isn't used to throwing to in the midst of this historic surge.

Wong and Narvaez may not be great, but have meshed effectively enough with only the best rotation and bullpen in the history of this summer.

If they got a catcher who would you trade and/or DFA?

Wong and Narvaez have options, so one could go to AAA as depth, but there is such a need for MLB catchers, trading Wong or Narvaez makes some sense, too. If I had to pick, I'd trade the guy with less control- Wong.

I think more players would want Wong, even if a little less control. He’s looking like the better catcher this year.

Wong has been up and down on O and has improved on D.

Narvaez has been good on D all along. He's his .583 in his last 11 games, and that's cherry-picking to the good. He is 4 for his last 12 with a dinger, so maybe he's turning it around.

Trading either one is okay with me, if we add Goodman, Jeffers, Langeliers or Rutschman.

Trading Mayer makes some sense, but we will and should not just accept the highest offer for him, if we think it is below his current value to this team- a team in extreme need of middle infield help now and into the foreseeable future.

Cease was just a rental, and Salas is under .700 in over 1000 minor league PAs. Had Duran done well this year, we'd be treating this like the Sale and Harrison trades.

You're acting like OPS is a critical stat for catcher prospects and that Salas isn't considered a top 3 MLB catcher prospect right now. This argument is disingenuous and a blind defense for Breslow. Duran is stinking up the joint and we missed a golden opportunity to trade him for assets when Breslow clearly KNEW we had an outfield logjam.

Let’s be real…we have some good looking young starters in this organization, but we’re still a mediocre 500ish team. We would have to go over 600 the rest of the way to match last year, which wasn’t even 90 wins. We’re counting on too many 2nd year and 1st year guys. No leadership and a streaky offense. I don’t believe we are good enough this year to be a serious contender against the best teams. I get that the AL isn’t really competitive, but we’re not even serious contenders in a weak AL.

theres a few teams interested in Aroldis Chapman, and with a option for 27 that vests with 40ip we could possibly find that big bat we need.  we don’t have much pure power guys down there that have stood out besides the 6’6 270 lb young (19) and undeveloped Justin Gonzales.

Duran

Contreras

Gray

Are three more that immediately come to mind that could bring something back if they’re performing.

Did you predict the Red Sox trading Early with that thread title? You should run a prediction service if that's true!

LOL.

A few posters did suggest trading Early earlier.

What I did NOT predict was winning 21 of 25. I thought if they somehow turned into buyers that Early would be a guy teams would want and was the odd man out. I wouldn’t have bet that I was going to happen, the way this team was looking.
