I said for EVERYONE to take it down a notch. You don't always need to get the last word in.

Since when? He’s bragged about doing it.

Henry isn't going anywhere for a long time. We're stuck with FSG for forever.

I understand that. The worst part is that he is lying to our faces about his commitment to win. His commitment is to make money. Thats fine; its "his ball". But at least he could be honest with us. FLOPS fans aren't stupid.

Like I said, let's just drop it. It's an argument that started to get too personal so find other things to post about please.

Have we even gotten any quotes from him this season?

His launch angle, exit velo and bat speed data are fine. He's even hitting the ball in the air as much as last season. With Roman, it's just SSS. There isn't much difference between what he's doing in the box this season and what he did last year.

Except for BA, HR, and RBI, which is what counts on the scoreboard. The nerd geeky stuff doesn’t.

The scoreboard stuff catches up over the long haul if there aren't underlying issues. He's fine. His numbers aren't.

I also had no problem leading Anthony off to start the season. This team has very few guys with proven OBPs that inspire lead off expectations. Anthony's sample size was small, but it was worth a try.

Maybe they kept him there, too long, but who was an OB machine in mid April?

So all the hype, and expectations thrown Anthony’s way was for his OBP?

The starched collar with the sweater vest aint it, with his defensive body language always falling back to how hes the boss and quick canning the glue of the entire organization (the guy who called him a stiff). He also insulted Bregman to his face and btw Tek aint coming back.

I hope we lose every game remaining this year.  I care about kindness and professionalism.  I care about treating people with respect.  The Yale thing doesnt bother me.  But just because you are smart enough to get into an Ivy is not an excuse to dress like its 1997 with like a Brooks Brother button down with a stiff AF collar poking out from under a sweater vest.

Breslow looks like a worse version of the skinny dude from chromeo.  Only hes like 40x less cool.  If we got the skinny dude from chromeo (or even the talk box guy) , Id be right back on board.

Let me tell you that I saw your boy walking down the street.
He was all shaky, hands all sweaty
And he could hardly speak

Get rid of a boy like him, and get a man like me
Cuz we just aint the same

Oooh wouldnt that feel nice?
Little dinner and some candlelight
What we need, when it comes down to it,
Is some men who are down to fight.

You do not need brains to get into Yale; you need the proper pedigree.

Well, we did win, when we focused on OBP and knocking the starter out by taking a zillion pitches, but the league has changed.

I do think it's good strategy to put a higher OBP guy up first. Only Durbin and Story have more PAs and a lower OBP than Duran.

His .333 OBP over the last 7 games is better, but still not great.

I guess f you want us to lose every game, it might be a good strategy... oh wait... you do!

😉

I agree pretty much with this except for the last line. I have heard lots of fans outside of here say it’s hard to root for the Red Sox, but root against JH, and Brez at the same time.

Ill take it.

Chasing OBP like its 2006.

Actually things went south when the Sox stopped chasing OBP.

Nothing wrong with not making outs…

I believe in MVP 04 for XBox, you could get points at the end of the season for various things like winning a batting title or team batting average or whatever. It would go towards giving you a higher payroll in subsequent seasons.

Hits are definitely on the scoreboard though. Errors too, FWIW.

Theres plenty wrong with not looking to swing the bat.  I would argue its one of our biggest problems.

That’s not necessarily part of OBP…

I'm not even sure he talks to his dog anymore. Someone might overhear him and quoate him.

I think we all agree, JH should have spent more and waited to long to kick it up a notch. Several posters think he needed to kick it up by more or way more than he has in the last year or two, and I can't disagree, but the AAV budget has gone up about $40M and many of the extensions will kick up the salary in upcoming years, and that will raise the "actual salary" budgets, on paper- unless of course he does more big salary dumps, like Devers, but chooses not to replace the salary traded away.

It gets tricky when you try and determine if JH actually believes he's "committed to wining." In his head he probably believes it. Maybe the yes men around him do, too.

While Brez has made some mistakes on the spending and choices made, I think his overall impact has been to improve the 40 man roster and farm, on paper. It hasn't shown up in 2026, but when you look at Contreras, Suarez and even Gray to some extent, they are not the problem with 2026, nor losing Bregman, Giolito and Devers.

His worst moves in hindsight (and yes some felt in foresight too) were the Sale trade and Buehler signing. Those were big, but at least Buehler's was a one season budget hit. Blooms biggest mistakes (Masa and Story) are long-lasting.

HOW DARE YOU.  MVP 05 was so much better!

DId you even play 05? Did 04 even have the arcade style HR derby where you would get monster points for hitting cars and other props and you had to get x points to clear levels?

It didnt have the banger soundtrack that 05 did either.  Im finding out true love is blind!

04 had 13 songs on the soundtrack vs only 9 for 05, plus one of the 05 songs was TESSIE! 🤮

No HR derby in 04.

That has been widely reported and confirmed by several sources.
