it's not a mixed bag. the "good" deals you mention, other than Crochet, Narvaez and Priester are all "meh" deals. the bad deals are mostly REALLY REALLY bad. actually, they're f***ing horrendous.

I disagree. I see half or more trades as plus, many as "meh" and a quite a few bad ones, too... some more in hindsight.

This team has played bad baseball for years. They keep switching the players, but it hasn't fixed the problem. It has to be the coaching at this point.

Tell me which ones are wrong...

Trades:

Good

Verdugo for Fitts, Weissert, Judice

Ammons for Slaten

Santos and Robertson for O'Neill

Schreiber for Sandlin

Yorke for Priester

Rodriguez for Narvaez

Teel, Montgomery, Meidroth and Gonzalez for Crochet

Booser for Fajardo

Jordan for Matz

Meh:

Paulino, Cofffey and Batista for Jansen

Portes for Sims

Kavadas, Zeferjahn, Lugo and Vargas for Garcia

Bad deals:

Sale for Grissom

Priester for Rodriguez, Holobetz and Comp Pick (maybe TBD)

Devers for Harrison, Hicks, Tibbs and Bello (But this was a salary/cancer dump and not meant to be an equal return.)

Tibbs and Ehrhard for May (more TBD)

Now, on FA signings, there are more bad than good, but there are also transactions like Criswell, Romy and a few others.

This is why I don’t rate these trades like this.  Too much is based on immediacy and depends on external factors.   “Player X had a bad year” isn’t necessarily the fault of the GM/CBO, especially if his previous year(s) were all pretty good.

Stop rating deals like this.  You missed the biggest flaw off the off-season, which was Breslow COMPLETELY IGNORED THE BULLPEN.   This is a bigger deal than whether not a one year gamble on Walker Buehler paid off.    Stop looking at what he does and start looking at what he didn’t.  Because all I see on here is people rating his luck and ignoring his negligence…
