If it's just 4-5, you can put still not ideal Hamilton there. If it's longer than that, they need a better option.

Romy ain't going nowhere!

The real question is do they think he did well enough vs RHPs to hand him a FT role? He his .718 in 2025, which is near the MLB norm.

At worst, he can be Ref's platoon replacement at DH or platoon with Mayer at 3B or 2B, or platoon with Lowe of someone else at 1B.

He's a keeper.

I was thinking Sogard, but it’s the same idea. 
 

They might add some Kevin Newman type, especially if he was willing to take a MiLB deal.  Or maybe someone like Jacob Amaya, who likely won’t get anything better…

He's an arb one player projected to make under $2M. It's a no-brainer he's back.

Interesting that Story hasn't immediately opted in. Most of the players have given early decisions around the league, and he's had plenty of time to consider it.

The ones who opted out want to get teams to be interested, immediately. I'm thinking Story stays. 

Does he officially have to opt out before his agent can legally talk to other teams about offers?

I doubt we add 3 infielders this offseason, certainly not starting caliber MLB level infielders.

Mayer is a bigger health concern. Story is just getting older and will see his production decline.
