Another injury to Fitts, who knew his elbow was cooked as soon as he threw that last pitch.

Criswell on the IL, Buehler banished to the pen, May doesn't have it, Harrison too wild...

Let's see if Matz is ready to get stretched back out.

If not, the open spot in the rotation just may be Payton's place.

Terrific job by Fitts despite his first 2 innings.

Mr. Matz comes to the mound with his 1.08 ERA in 8 games in August.

GIDP, easy-peasy!.

Good summary.  I would add that Cora has been dealing with this all season.

What was the point of using Bernardino??  Warn him up, let him pitch one in king and lose his availability for at least the next game or two?  I don’t get it.

Lots of managers do it and the Rays routinely.

There's nothing wrong with the Sox scoring double digit runs in 20 games this season until you realize that they're averaging 3.5 runs per game in the other 111 games.

Wow, that's pretty good. I thought it would be less.

Amazingly, we have not lost any games 12-10. We are 20-0 in double digit scoring games.

we are 51-60 in all others.

Wong appears to have his groove back. Patience is a virtue.

If loving Connor is Wong, I don't wanna be white.

Merloni just said hitters can't bunt anymore because they're all focused on exit velocity, the opposite of your goal when laying one down.

To be a good bunter, you have to crave exit viscosity...

And you don't want your bat at a launch angle.

Back to the game.  Great play by Matz/Bregman to get the guy going to 3b.

Matz has nasty stuff.  Nasty.  2 terrific IP exactly when needed.  Great acquisition by Breslow--you know, Mr. Dipstick who blew the season a month ago by failing to get a #1 starter, 3 great righty bats,, 2 turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree.

I'm not claiming Breslow is a genius, but I look like what he has done.  This is a great team to root for.

That wasn't a bad throw considering it was a pitcher throwing to a bag

Great point!

Breslow failed to provide the team with a good #2 SP and a quality 1B not to mention bolstering the pen. We aren’t going to agree. So far Matz has done well but May is very suspect. I’d give him a C-

And the Bronx squirrel! Clearly, the Yankees were willing to pay what it takes to acquire him, even for peanuts and Crackerjack.

Whitlock threw too many pitches about medium height.  No lows and no highs.  He made it easy for Henderson to foul them off until e finally nailed one.

MASN announcers just showed a graphic that the Orioles have killed Sox pitching from the 8th inning on this season.

They have also replayed that great grab by the Orioles SS or 2b about 25 times.
