Arrighetti got lit up in his first start off the IL. Does that mean anything for this start today? Probably not.

Ive come to grips with Dustin May’s role on this team possibly limited to being a placeholder for some of the Sox more advanced pitching prospects.  He just needs to log sufficient IP until at least one is ready for a call up.

It helps to think of him as a Tolle Bridge…

Tolle won't be starting MLB this year, so technically he is a Tolle Bridge, but it's a long one.

Maybe but Early Bridge didn’t really make as much sense as a pun…

I'm not one for well thought out puns. I think they may need to do a Criswellness check and see if he still Fitts on this roster.

I admit it, I jinxed it yesterday. My bad, everyone.

Today, all I will say is that I think it would be a good thing if the Red Sox won. Like, objectively good. The Platonic form of good.

You jinxed nothing.  Crochet simply had a bad game.  Plus I'm delighted the Sox came back, if not quite enough.

Occasionally in the past we have tried reverse mojo.

I like both options.  Another bad start by May tonight will mean more runs to make up and more relievers needed--to say nothing of a 4th straight loss.

A win tonight would be huge.

They could get swept this series and it doesn't affect my outlook on this team. They have a cakewalk of a schedule from 8/15 - 8/31. Only 3 difficult series left to go: CLE, TOR, DET.

You’re right.  You’re not much for puns…

I was always told “it’s always the quiet ones.” What’s that mean?

Puns are fun, but mine are usually lousy and my wife's pretty good.  On here splendidsplinter rules.

I'm guessing Story should get hot again around mid September.

Probably mid October when he is relaxing on a beach somewhere.

Still seeing Yoshida & Toro ahead of Abreu in the line-up. Maybe Toro hits another dinger to shut me up.

"Still???"  Last night Abreu batted 5th and was hitless.

May has better velocity than I thought. Five more innings to go for a QS.

He looks terrific despite the 2 hits.  Velocity, movement, and location.

Sox hitting once again looks like spit.

Great timing by me!.  Narvaez got the word and delivered.

Abreu is batting .248. His BA is lower than Toro's.

Toro, after the first 10 games in games 11-30 hit .352. Since then he is batting .200.
