Were they Vin Scully? No. But nobody is Vin Scully. Not one broadcaster calling games right now comes close to Vin Scully so I don't think that should be the comparison. 

Some people didn't like the "tone" of their voices. Joe Castiglione sounded like a friggin' stork being strangled for the past 30 years and I didn't here any complaints about how his voice sounded. 

I agree. I started out with Curt Gowdy, Ned Martin, and Ken Coleman watching the Red Sox so everyone since has below their standards to me. Hawk Harrelson didn’t have a great voice either.

You certainly can compare two players at the same position and conclude that one is better than the other, but both may be excellent or both may suck. It’s much more useful to compare a player to all other players at that position. 
So when SS wrote that “you should check out the Yankee LFer” in reference to how good or bad Duran is there it’s not meaningful because both may be excellent or both may be horrible. If both suck you can look at the Yankee LFer but if Duran sucks (I don’t think he does) then he sucks.

Okay, I get what your saying, but I took SS's comment as going beyond the literal meaning. I think he was implying, :look at how Duran compares to the NYY LF'er and others.

8 in a row, man this is some fun.  But we are getting breaks.  Bobby Witt should have made that play, the 2nd baseman should have let the RF take that pop up. But they are also putting the ball in play, pitching well and winning a lot of games on their own.

Nope. There was no "that's gonna be Ball 4" -- after a walk, or "they're gonna take the lead" -- after the go-ahead run scores, or "he's going to be sick" -- after I throw up.

Yeah I grew up in the DC burbs, now live an hour north.  When I was young the Redskins stunk, as did the Senators.  I got on the Red Sox because I was born in Boston and it was 1967.  I didn't become a Redskins fan, it was the Colts at first, until George Allen arrived and instantly made them winners.  For decades the streets around DC were barren during  the game, they really took over the city until Snyder ruined it. 

Not getting into the name thing, been there done that.  I call them the Commanders because that's their name.now, just as I call them the Wizards and not the Bullets.  .

As I have posted before I often tune in the opposing team broadcast because they talk baseball as the NESN spends an entire half of an inning interviewing someone from some charity.  

Last night was great, those woman acually talked baseball.

Old men is quite presumptuous wouldn’t you say? It couldn’t be that the female play by play team sounded flat out awful.. could it? All women must automatically be great no matter what they do because to criticize is to be mean.. and that is not allowed according to you. We should pretend that people who sound like squeaky chipmunks, who are constantly yapping without a break for two and a half hours.. as if they are on the radio instead of a TV broadcast sound great because they a simply women. Moreover.. it’s fine to dismiss „old men” opinions. Young women do everything better and are more knowledgeable? Thanks for setting us all straight.
