If he doesn't suck, he certainly blows

I think Cora has done a decent job but since something has to change and you can’t fire all the players Cora should take it on the chin

His manager? never asked him. The GM had to ask him.

Didn’t realize that. So Devers defied his GM. I wouldn’t mind assigning him either 1B or a seat on the bench.

I don’t care what Devers wants. He gets paid to do whatever his manager thinks is best for the team.

Yup, it’s that simple. If he’s told to play the OF, he better play the godamn OF. I don’t remember a player not willing to play (publicly) a different position.

Yeah, they should bench their best offensive player. Great idea!

I remember when I was working and there was a need for a pediatrician at a different location-about 30 more minutes away from where I then worked. I told them I’d rather not transfer. They said if you don’t transfer find a new job.

At this point in the season it doesn’t matter. They aren’t playing October baseball anyway. It’s about setting the culture for the team going forward.

He already has a seat on the bench. On the cooler to be exact.

Benching the best offensive player, who kills the Yankees is a great way to keep the fans watching!

It’s a great way to teach a self centered crybaby that he isn’t the manager

It’s a great way to lose games and will accomplish nothing. If you think Devers not playing 1B is the issue with this team, I don’t know what to tell you.

Just an amazing game and series vs the AL East-leading Yankees, whose pitching staff had the 4th best ERA in MLB before tonight and the 3d best before this series started.

A dinger by Raffy, the most pilloried Sox player in decades.    He is currently 2d in MLB in rbi's, 10th in OPS, and tied for the MLB lead in games played.  In short, he has done nothing right because he preferred to be the DH vice 1b.  And he did so because his manager told him to embrace the DH position.

Raffy at 1b is demonstrably the wrong position for him this season.  It was our sadly ignorant CBO who decided he knew better, which he absolutely did not.

IMHO jason one of the main reasons this team has sucked in recent seasons it’s because there’s a lack of culture. IMO I don’t care if you are Bebe Ruth, you have to play where you are told or you go to bench or get traded. Sorry but not sorry.

In the bad days, the 86 years before the John Henry era, the Sox were known for their June swoon.  Is it possible these Sox will do the opposite?

You got that wrong, dead wrong.  Cora told Raffy to embrace DH, which he did.  When Casas went down, Cora wisely never asked Devers to play 1b, which has proven to be exactly the right decision.

Breslow had his head up his whatever when he bypassed Cora to tell Raffy to play 1b.

I think the way bigger issue is roster construction. You can’t really build a “ winning culture” with the way the pitchers this team has employed the last few seasons. It’s not Like Devers is rubbing off on the young players. Duran, Hamilton, Mayer and others play extremely hard. Devers is what he is. An exceptional hitter, a Yankee killer and a bad fielder who doesn’t always hustle.

If think it’s ok for Devers to disobey the management and not do what’s best for the team  don’t know what to tell YOU.

Are you telling that if Devers plays 1B he won’t hit well? Really?

said that, IMO he would do fine at 1B but I like him at DH, but that’s another discussion.

Gosh-isn’t Breslow Cora’s boss?

I know he’s Devers boss
