The more I look at Toro the more I like the guy man. It’s too soon but hey… probably he is the legit answer at 1B.

He’s a bench player doing a good job.  Let’s not get carried away…

More buffoon baseball by the Flops.
Unwatchable

Outta here

Disagree.  They did make that game watchable.  I’d have preferred a happier ending, but it looked like it was going to be a lost cause before Fitts got the second out…

Doing a good job is rare on this disappointing team .

It’s classic Toro.  The Lawnmower Man has always shown himself capable of the occasional hot streak.   I wouldn’t mind if he stuck over Hamilton on their teams bench, but you really don’t want this guy getting 400 PA per season…

Another 1 runner at Fenway ?   What's new, buried in the first.

Is this # 16 , hard to keep up with the 1 runners. But focus on the run differential, it'll make you feel better.

Interesting to see the phat phuque Jansen close out the boys.

The Red Sox are now 6-16 in one-run games.

The Sox entered Monday's games with a better Pythagorean record (32-29) than, say, the AL West-leading Seattle Mariners (30-28).

Much baseball remains to be played.

Have no idea how long he’s going to last but It’s fair to say that he at least fields way better than Devers and Casas combined.

This is true and I'm a big fan of Pythagorean. But I still believe it'll be difficult for the Sox to attain a 78-84 record this season unless they make some positive trades at the deadline.

It was a lost cause before the Flops ever touched a bat. Then they started throwing the ball around the infield like the little league team they are.
When that happens they’re unwatchable

Campbell is consistent. He can't hit good or crap pitchers.

Doesn't matter; Campbell is the guy the Red Sox are hoping turns it around and wins Rookie of the Year. Under the rules, that will reward the team with a draft pick, and most importantly, it can't reward Campbell with an extra year of service time because he's already locked up with an extension.

This may be why you won't see Campbell get sent back to Worcester to work on his hitting... at least, he'll never be replaced by Roman Anthony, specifically -- in case the latter is actually too good.

If Boston can just limit Anthony to fewer than 130 at bats or fewer than 45 days on the active MLB roster, he'll retain his rookie status for 2026... by then the Sox will have secured that all-important extra year of control, and they'll be happy if Roman wins Rookie of the Year in '26 and nets them a bonus draft pick.

45 days max on the active roster to pursue an ephemeral ROY award and a draft choice.  Whoopee !

That would mean no call up for Anthony until second half of August at which time they will be buried in the WC race.  Or about the time Bregman will return and play out the year before leaving the Sox hanging on Boras' every word to see if he comes back or plays the field

He'll be up before then. They'll punt on the PPI.

If bregman comes back and performs s he has, I think it increses his odds that he opts out.

He's not getting any younger and one would think he'd like to compete for another ring before he retires.

I would seriously hope so.  The odds are stacked against them for a WC right now .despite a relatively weak AL.

Exactly 100 games at the start tonight.   To get to 89 wins  The Sox need to go 60-40, not 50-50.   Only Yankees & Tigers in Al have exceeded that .600 pace.  4 teams in the NL  .  Maybe the #3  WC  goes to a 85-86 win team , like Royals and Tigers in '24

So it might be in reach still but where will the spark to win more than 2 games in a row come from?   Bregman will be late to the party .  Mid season trades ?? Takes some talent going to get some coming back.

The starting pitching is still very weak beyond Crochet and he will be at record IP levels by late August, if not injured along the way.

Agreed,  a good 45-50 game stretch in August/September will be the entry to a possible new deal.
