OPS above .700, now 716. It's better than Duran. Story and Rafaela.

Indeed.  I like to complain about Breslow, but this year he's brought in some pretty good players.

Unrelated but holy s*** are the Rockies bad. They are down 19-0 in the top of the 5th. They might be worse than 24 White Sox

And the powers that be are still talking expansion.

Padres scored again in the top of the 6th. Isn't there a 20-0 rule in MLB?

Seth Lugo is starting for KC tomorrow. Hm, Lugo, brings back memories of a certain Sox SS.

Rest in Peace Julio

Here's an interesting stat. In 2024 season African Americans only comprised 6 percent of MLB players while Latino players were at 30 percent.

In 1991 when the study began, African American players were at 17 percent and it's been dropping ever since. Strange why this is hardly ever discussed by MLB .

That's not new. American kids in general used to play pick up games just for the fun of it, no parents or leagues. I think it's got to be more like that to get back to the way it was.

Absolutely dominant performance by Crochet. That is what an ace does

Yep. I hated to give away Teel but this is why you trade for an ace and extend him.  It's nice to have a real stopper again.

On the other hand, they dominate the NBA and probably have a high percentage in the NFL.  My theory is that players normally get to the NBA or NFL a lot quicker than to MLB.  I have no idea how salaries compare.

NBA has the smallest percentage of players that actually make it due to smaller rosters but they are usually paid the most. A lot of role players make $20+ million a year. NFL probably has the highest chance they of “making it” due to huge rosters (50+ players + practice squads) and two extra teams (32 compared to 30 in MLB and NBA) but also has the negatives of high injury risk and non guaranteed salaries.

The bigger winter spending budget helped.
