Ah the $300M+/$30M/yr DH Devers Forever. Mookie was up for contract at the wrong time, and Devers was the last Man standing of the three. If Devers would have come up for contract when Mookie did, and vice versa most likely Mookie would still be here, and Devers would not have been forever.

Yes, for some reason, JH need to spend way less from 2020-2022, and while he still spent a lot in 2019, there was not much "new spending."

That being said, they did choose to pay Sale, Nate and Bogey over Betts. That is probably a better comp than Betts vs Devers.

It is what is best for the team.

Good call, Cora.

If you watched the pre, and post game show you’d get a lot of this info, and wouldn’t have to speculate all the time, and most likely get things wrong. What a novel idea that would be.

Funny, how you bashed my "speculation" that Bregman would be the 3Bman from day one and Devers should DH (or play 1B) that I have been calling for for years. Somehow, that is "being wrong," while you have never admitted being wrong.

The Red Sox start off the season with not many days off so Cora was trying to get another inning out of his starter, who had only given up 2 runs in 5 innings.  It's one of those tricky decisions for managers.  It's all easy for us sitting at home.

Good point.  I do recall reading about that.  I still think he was wrong and was saved by the Sox pathetic hitting, (not including Abreu).

True.  I'm just just not in the habit of listening to pregame stuff.
