Not much.  Although there were probably better choices than Story and Yoshida.

No doubt.

I've highlights just how poorly Bloom did on his biggest spendings and listed them in order of cost.

I am not sure he was given any directive to not spend on SP'ers long term, and if I had to guess, I'd say no, he was not, but they may have said no to a few specific offers he wanted to give. For all we know, maybe even Brez asked to go longer on Imanaga, and JH & Co. said no, but I'll assume that was not the case.

IMO, the GM was handed a winter spending budget that included limits on AAV and length of bigger deals, but the GM chose how to spend it.

Spending on Story and Yoshida, instead of SP'ers was a huge mistake.

He did spend a bit on the pen... Barnes, Diekman, Jansen, Martin... Without a decent rotation, it was kind of a waste.

So did Joe Davis just call Mookie the first active player with 3 World Series rings?  Did he forget Joe Kelly was his teammate on all three teams?

Dodgers take the WS, 4 games to 1, beating the Yankees at Yankee Stadium in a 7-6 game that defies description.  The Yankees had a big lead, but gave away 5 unearned runs on 3 errors.   Plus on one play the Yankees high-priced starter, Cole, simply failed to cover 1b on a grounder to the firstbaseman.  In short, the Yankees lost out of sheer unprofessionalism.

Ugly game for Yankee fans, but a reminder of what a weird and beautiful game baseball is, where you never really know what's going to happen next, and numerous little things can decide the final outcome.

Yankees fans deserved an ugly ending considering the nonsense from Game 4 and all the cope they had trying to protect that one doofus and his friend.

The Yankees imitating the Red Sox on D for that one inning was great. Good for Mookie to win number 3, and I hope he wins 3 more.

And the Dodgers are set up way too good.  I even saw an ugly rumor they're going to be in on Soto.

If the window is the next 3 years, why not ignore the cap and just go for it while the players are still in their prime? You'll never get those years back.

Dodgers ownership and Friedman would seem to agree.

Turns out Friedman is a really hands on guy.  Just reading about how deeply involved he was in the pitching plans last night after Flaherty bombed out, right down to talking to Buehler in the clubhouse.

Let the FA period, and the wheeling and dealing begin. I’m sure JH is just chomping at the bit to get things rolling.

His plane will be rolling away that's for sure. I'm sure he has better things to do than spend on the Sox right now. 🧛‍♂️

I do feel a little sorry for Judge.  He's being portrayed by Yankee fans/media as a historic choke artist.  Nobody needs that.

The price you pay sometimes when you play in New York, or Boston.

Hard to feel sorry for anyone who chooses to wear pinstripes.

I get what you are saying because he does seem like a genuinely nice guy who tries very hard.

But his performances in the postseason leave a lot to be desired.

So how do you feel about the Sox fans that dumped their drink on Sheffield years back?

Does that mean that all Sox fans deserved an ugly ending?

Every fan base has their share of chumps.

He actually had a .836 OPS in the World Series.  It’s below his career numbers, but it’s not exactly bad…

He had a better series than Ohtani…

With the bat, but he added to his hitting struggles with a costly dropped fly ball.

Plus Ohtani was pretty obviously playing hurt.

Not really comparable, but still really stupid. I'm fine with anyone intentionally doing that being permanently banned from MLB games.

It was the celebration of that fan after the fact that really reminded me how awful Yankees fans are. If he had just knocked a foul ball away or bumped into Mookie it's whatever. Ripping a ball out of Mookie's closed glove and yanking on his arm was ridiculous. ESPN and other outlet's fawning coverage of the dude afterwards was embarrassing.

All season I said the Yanks wouldn't win with Judge in centerfield. It's not his fault he played there because he didn't build the roster, just like it wasn't Kike's fault he was forced to play shortstop his last year in Boston -- which tainted the memory of his contributions to Red Sox fans.

But it was fun to root for Kike again, forever a hero in LA.

Yeah, that was indeed the ridiculous part, the coverage that made it seem what these guys did was funny or even admirable.

Another thing I'll never get  is fans throwing home run balls hit by the other team back on the field, including ones that could be worth serious dough like Freeman's in Game 4.  To me it's stupid on multiple levels.

He fell into the bullpen? Fans had nothing to do with that???
