The second walkoff win of the year, when Romy Gonzalez comes through. Great work by another rookie

Kudos to Bernandino and before him Kelly

Upon further review, i will say that the Rays are as bad at baseball as the Sox on occasion. Taking strike 3 on a 3-2 count from Bernandino is awful batting. WTF was he thinking?

Good point. Last year the Rays looked thoroughly professional in everything they did. Tonight they looked unprofessional.

About Rafaela. I left out that his quickness means he gets to balls and can make plays other players can't--but that also puts more pressure on him to complete those plays. He leads the Sox in errors with 7, but has a +0.3 DWAR. He is now making a lot of money and should be thrilled he's getting this experience. He leads the Sox in rbi's and got another tonight. The problem with leaving him in CF is that the best Sox bats--O'Neill, Abreu, Duran, and Refsnyder--are in the OF. Except for Devers, of course, which is why Cora plays him as often as possible and preferably at 3B.

I thought the bad throw should have been caught at 1B, so the E was not all on him.

He had a hard time getting it out of his glove, and he threw on the move.

He's still a plus on D, so I hope he starts to lessen the E numbers. He'd then be a plus-plus on D.

Casas wouldn't have caught that throw either, but Dalbec might have. Too bad he can't hit.

I think Dalbec would have had the least chance at snagging the throw.

Maybe it made a bad bounce. It went to the inside of his glove/leg and looked to be at the right height as the glove.

It was a bad throw, but I think it was about 50-50 on maybe MLB 1Bmen make that play 50% of the time or more..

It was nice to see no walks by Pivetta, but I don't think he looked as sharp as he was in his initial starts before the IL, or the last 4 months of 2023.

He definitely looked very good, last night, to me.

Big hit by Romy. If this guy can contribute, it really gives Cora some major flexibility.

The Romdawg is not the typical Pablo-size back-up infielder. As Merloni pointed out, he's 6 foot, 215 lbs, and had some pop in AAA: .333/1.079 before being called up.

He's got almost 260 PAs in MLB, which is a rather small sample size.

5Hrs and 19 XBHs.

In AA+AAA, he hit 31 HRs in 583 PAs (517 ABs.) Yes, he had pop. He slugged around .500, which was better than he did in A ball and college.

Straight up conjecture on whether or not a first baseman who went on the game would have caught that throw. All we know is none of their FOUR major league first basemen were in the game and the utility infielder manning first didn’t catch it…

94 games spread across 4 years. Part time players aren't going to get 1,000 PA's very quickly.

Good word, conjecture. I thrive on it because it's 100% guesswork and 0% statistical analysis.

And you get to yell about it on court. “I object!! That’s pure conjecture!!”

In this case, it helps if you’re a lawyer. And know whether or not it is conjecture. Also, if they’re a witness against your client…

Indeed, and he far from a rookie.

He may be one of those "late bloomers," as his AA and AAA numbers were way better than his single A and college numbers.
