Whenever Hamilton comes into the game at any position, especially SS the whole thing falls apart.

I suspect if they made him the ball boy down one of the foul lines, the Red Sox defense would fall apart.

Having replaced Rafaela with Hamilton for defense was a stroke of genius by Cora. Over manage much?

Hamilton replaced the injured player O'Neill. So Duran moved to LF and Rafaela to CF and Hamilton to SS. Hamilton was pretty good the last two games @ SS.

The fielding and baseball instinctual prowess is only equaled by the inconsistent hitting . Keystone cops in many ways on defense.

I don't consider that play to be silly. It was an in-between pop with both players trying hard to get it. Why wouldn't we want them to do that? Bumping heads was simply unfortunate.

Nobody was calling for the ball that I could see and Duran was just standing there not offering any assistance to either O'Neill or Devers. That is sort of silly for a ML team.

Duran for one is a JACKASS, a day in day out JACKASS.

My bad; I forgot what was left on the SOX bench. My apologies to Cora.

Ok to question. Why not are Reyes?

Only put him out there when the Sox are hitting. Maybe it would rub off on the other team.

Once the Sox are on D, put him outside Fenway for that 1/2 inning.

And on cue, Hamilton screws up another potential DP, which costs another run. Edit - make that 2.

Doesn't make much difference because the Sox are scoreless.

Bottom line is 2 hits and 4 runners ain't going to get it done. And it happens way too often.

Assuming it stays 4-0, this will be the 3rd shutout along with 2 one run efforts in the first 17 games, just over 10% of the season. Devers has missed multiple games. Story never really got going except to the surgery room, others come and go depending on the breeze. Typically 1/3 of the lineup is popgun trio of Hamilton, Valdez and Reyes .

I've already apologized for that post.

What’s Duran supposed to do? His only job there is if the ball gets dropped, pick it up and throw it in. He’s an outfielder, not a medic…

My bad. Our real problems today had nothing to do with defense. Our lineup couldn't hit and our bullpen couldn't get guys out.

In fact--and unless the Sox score 2 in the 9th--the crucial mistake was the 8th pitch Weissert threw to pinch-hitter Brennan in the 7th inning.

Offensively, Devers has missed a lot of games.

He could have helped call off O'Neill. Duran had a good view of whether Rafi could make the play or not and if O'Neill was just going to get in the way. What....you have never seen a fielder do that before?

Oh look....two fielders manage not to KLANG off each other to make a play and end this utter travesty of a baseball game.

All 6 Cleveland runs came off our BP, and ALL were scored with 2 outs. Once again Sox pitchers just don't get the 3 outs/inning concept, backed up by the often clueless , unskilled defense

My apologies...I thought it was Duran out there in the near three way collision in the OF. It was Rafaela playing CF.

As to the earlier question about moving Rafaela to CF. I would have done ANYTHING to keep Hamilton off SS. Whatever it took.

Cleveland outplays the Sox every which way you can.

Sox are now 2-5 at the Fens. Appropriately, I think average attendance in those 7 games is about 30K.

Often they get 3 outs, but with this D, they need to get 4 or 5.
