I would be willing to wager that by the end of the year he can knock some 25.00 to 30.00 off of that…

Ohtani's translator was fired by the Dodgers after "stealing" 4.5M from Ohtani and wiring it to cover his gambling debts. Story is very sus IMO.

He should have got to that first hit off Yamamoto.

Didn't see the play, but his work at SS and the decision to move him there will definitely be under scrutiny.

Strange stuff. Interpreter's first story was that Ohtani paid off the debt for him.

And changed it to "Ohtani knew nothing about it" probably after some lawyer told Ohtani that he'd get into a s*** ton of trouble for knowingly wiring a bookie money even if it wasn't his debt.

Hopefully that lawyer brought in his own much more reliable interpreter…

Mookie and Xander only have 10 more hits than the Red Sox so far.

At least the front office can celebrate the flexibility of not having those albatross contracts someday far in the future when the Sox are still be rebuilding and not paying fair market value for stars in their primes.

33 hits and 12 BBs in that SDP-LAD game, today!

26 Runs.

44 hits and 25 BB's over the first two ugly games.

Apparently, Lorenzen got $4.5M/1 with TX.

It's sad we can't afford $5M.

Maybe if we didn’t sign Liam Hendriks…

Pretty sure that MLB has no desire to look too deeply into the Ohtani situation.

They won't want anything to be left to guess or suspect, too.

The Ohtani story looks incredibly bad because as many are saying, it simply makes no sense that the interpreter could transfer all that money from his boss's account without Ohtani knowing about it. All kinds of rules governing bank transfers of that size and so on.

JD signs with the Mets for $12M.

$4.5 million now, and...

$7.5 million between 2034 and 2038 - seriously.

Even Steve Cohen is down to digging change out of the sofa, it seems. A sudden and terrible cash crunch in MLB!

No time - I have to go watch the 17 Gambling Channels that replaced actual sports shows where the hosts never promised to match more theft of my bank account for every new addiction I blow my paycheck on.

Please forward this to Pete Rose, who played in the days when Organized Crime didn't sponsor baseball with not just TV ads, but actual round-the-clock infomercials posing as vital pregame previews for the gullible masses.

Frankly, the only thing that makes sense is that Ohtani was absolutely in the know about the money going to the bookie. And as seems to be the consensus, the best story for Ohtani was actually the first one, that he did it to bail out a friend, even if that story has some nasty legal consequences of its own.

Between this and Yamamoto giving up 5 runs in an inning, that was one heck of a bad day for the Dodgers.

While bad for the Dodgers, the schadenfreude from all other fan bases is quite high. Would be wild if they can prove that Ohtani was actually the one gambling and his friend was just a scapegoat.
