Game Day: Red Sox vs. Northeastern 1:05 pm!

Pros to watch: anyone wearing the laundry; it's baseball season! None of the players trying to become second basemen will be named Mookie or Xander.

Students to watch: potential first-rounder Mike Sirota (who already turned down Dodgers in a later round to attend college). Sirota is a nephew of late Hall of Famer Whitey Ford. Also, starting pitcher Aiven Cabral -- who went to the same high school as Tony Conigliaro. Huskies are managed by Mike Glavine, brother of HOFer Tom.

@IanMBrowne

Vaughn Grissom (hammies) and Jarren Duran (coming back from toe surgery) will both make their Spring Training debuts sometime around March 1.

@ChrisCotillo

Wong also a little delayed with elbow soreness but Cora doesn't expect any of them to be questionable for Opening Day.

Penrod: 1 Inning, 3K, 1BB

Was expecting another BB to be honest.

My major takeaway from today's game is for NESN to ditch O'Brien and give Caron the job.

2 wins, today- for what it's worth.

Giolito 2 IP, 0 H, 1 BB, 1K

Bello 2IP, 0H, 1 BB, 3K

Devers with an HR

Anthony’s appearance was particularly unexpected, since only last week, manager Alex Cora, when asked if Anthony might get into a major league game this spring, responded: “That’s a hard no.”

Cora changed his mind, however, after the Red Sox played the prospect-rich Baltimore Orioles Saturday and featured some of their top minor leaguers in the contest, including the game’s No. 1 prospect, Jackson Holliday. (Ironically, Holliday and Anthony trained together this past winter in Oklahoma).

Come on Cora. Get with the program. Why are we such a chicken s*** on stuff like this? It's a freakin scrimmage games. Afraid one set back will damage these players?

Did he mean MLB (non spring training) game before June 21st?

We knew he was invited to ST'ing, so that usually means playing in ST'ing games.

And on days of split squad games, I’m not so sure they have too many other options…

How many times do they invite players to ST'ing and never play them?

Anyone they invite to play behind Pedro Ciriaco?

According to MassLive Cora changed his mind after seeing several Orioles prospects playing last Saturday.

I am just repeating the article. Don't shoot the messanger.

I'm not shooting you. I was just curious if Cora mean MLB games to be real ones.

It is a bit surprising to see him change strategy that quickly, based on what another team is doing. Maybe even concerning, a little bit.

Maybe, I just want to believe he's not that easily impressionable.

OB is a New England guy, but he's just so dull. I've never been a fan of his. No personality.

Yeah, he's already in AA. Of course he'll be playing in the Spring Training games.

Why invite someone to the MLB complex and not play them?

I'm not sure about Cora's comments, but I'm assuming they were about him playing in BOS, not in Spring Training.

Cora probably just misunderstood the question. Move on.

How Red Sox went from ‘hard no’ to starting Roman Anthony in MLB spring game

MassLive headline......I'm ready to move on but I doubt that Cora misunderstood the question.

That's what I felt. After all, April, May and most of June are still in "spring."
