Bastardo is not really top 20, but he's top 30 and has a .444 OPS Against.

Others:

.408 Early

.365 Kelly

.392 Benitez (may move up, at some point)

.561 Guerrero

.419 Troye, .635 Dobbins & .511 Rogers (all SSS)

Bastardo:

6K, 7 BB, 9.2 IP, 3.72 ERA

Needs to clean that up.

SP has been talking about Benitez this offseason. They like his outlook as a RP. Probably does see the show this year, especially since he's a LHP.

Also, no taters for the whole org last night! :(

I noticed that as well. Many of our hitters stumbled out the starting blocks.

Paulino looks like he is a bit more patient this year.

Mayer looks really confident at the plate. Barreling up a lot of balls. Low and outside seems to be difficult for him

He still needs work on offspeed stuff and his k rate is too high. Work to be done, but he has been good so far.

Kavadas with 2 taters, a double and hit by pitch twice!!!!! I good day, but a painful day

Kavadas figuring out AAA is a good step for him eventually finding an MLB role. He has been a little but in the wilderness ever since he started off strong in A ball then fell off in Portland.

No doubt, he struggled in AA, but even through those hard times in '22 and '23, his OBP was always very nice. One could say, "So was Dalbec's."

OBP:

.370 in AA '22

.386 in AA '23/.364 in AAA '23

.500 in AAA in '24

Note: OBP often does not translate to MLB very well.

The difference is his swing appears shorter this year

Woo lost game 1: 12-2 with nothing worthy of talking about.

After 4 innings, Woo is hitless, but losing just 4-3. (Yes, this is not a typo.)

POR won.

Dobbins 6IP, 4H, 1ER, 1BB, just 1 K.

Lugo 2-2 w 2BB

Anthony, Mayer, Mayer & Teel 1-13 w BB

GRE lost 6-4.

SAL down 13-6 in the 9th.

We got a pitcher named Felix? I think, hard to see the name. Saw him warming up. Stuff Looked pretty darn good!!!!, but command and control was shaky. Might have something with him if he puts it all together

Kavadas through 15 games:

1089 OPS

4 HR

10 BB, 17.8%

17 K, 30.4%

364 BABIP

Maybe has a chance to come up as a platoon bat with Dalbec depending on how long Casas is out? He is Rule 5 eligible this offseason. Jordan, Sogard and Yorke are also rule 5 eligible.

I'd like to see the domer get a shot, but his high K rate is not a good sign. Neither is Dalbec's, so what do we have to lose?

(Bobby Dee can play 3B, though.)

The big 3 are not off to bad starts, but they are not (yet) lighting the world on fire, either.

.784 Mayer

.771 Anthony

.761 Teel

The surprise at AA has been Paulino, Penrod & Dobbins.

Kavadas and Fitts are the top guys from Woo. (Meidroth is warming up.)

Early & Bolden are impressing w Greenville

They have similar AAA outputs. We don't know whether Kavadas can make the jump. Hard to say unless they give him a chance. It may be one of those seasons.

@PortlandSeaDogs

Matthew Lugo has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week! Lugo hit .438 in five games with 3 doubles, a triple, a home run, and a league-best 10 RBI.

And he still hasn't turned 23 yet.

He was the 2nd pick in the Cam Cannon draft. Cannon was picked last year's MiLB portion of the Rule 5 draft.

Maybe, somehow, still being in AA makes it seem longer.

Why aren’t we talking about Penrod more? The stuff is decent, but the results are very nice

Is "decent" good enough?
