I know Rodon is a LH'er , but in a game for rights to the cellar, Devers gets to sit but Turner can DH and run the bases, hopefully. Cora did say something about the extra rest for Sale that was a clear giveaway that they have given up internally.

I do think Dugo's AB in the 9th was only a microcosm of his abilities but, it is the shining light as to why I would not sign Verdugo going forward. You simply cannot coach stupid or have a player with no ability to think. Yes, had he ghotten a hit or even a fly ball, it would have been a SUCCESS instead of just SUCKING but it was not the right play. Indicative of a guy with no baseball intelligence. And don't tell me if it had been a strike Dugo would have been down 0-1 and his hit expectation drops to .034. He is unintelligent and you cannot fix nor coach that. Absolute low point of the season for me.

I'm waiting for someone to say, "Now, that we know he can hit..."

There are some naysayers on the hitting from his MiLB data. Let's see him prove up the defensive side which he may be doing , steal a base or two, and play both SS and 2B at the same time while covering short Cf.

Too bad they did away with the shift. He could play a whole side of the field and the others could try to do as well as he could by himself on the other side.

BTW, I think his hit tool will be fine. He will likely be streaky, and maybe have some long slumps as he struggles to adjust or readjust, but he'll be fine.

Have you ever seen such a passive hitting Yankee team in your life. Actually I have. But I am old as dirt. So I sort of don't count.

Anybody know if they are going absolutely out of their minds down there or are they trying to rationalize this mess.

Sox get 5 innings of shutout from Pivetta, and now 4 of same from Crawford. These efforts are backed up with a total of 2 solo HRs, and a run on a WP . Not the first time this season . This type failure needs some analysis and correction.

They have understandably given up. They are playing like they just want to go home.

Nice outing by Crawford. I think part of it is that the last place Yankees have also given up.

Now hosting interviews for next year’s team…..

I think each of us should be allowed to say something absolutely insane on a game thread, so here's my shot.

I've enjoyed both games because I've seen some pretty good baseball here in September. Is the Sox weak hitting frustrating? Absolutely. But the Sox pitching has been surprisingly good, so both games have been well worth watching.

I’ve enjoyed some of the games and a handful of individual performances this year. But there have been way too many brain dead mistakes in the field and underperforming bums this year to make the season remotely enjoyable.

It can’t end soon enough.

We are going to end up in the basement of the division again. Yeah, there's nothing enjoyable in that.

Is this team finishing last again?

Better than even odds, yes. They define mediocrity-and that’s even worse than being good or bad.

And it’s boring.

Enjoy the rest of the game.

Makes no sense, again.

what's especially frustrating to me is that the s***** offense seems to often coincide with an outstanding performance by the pitching staff. and, conversely, the pitching staff seems to suck ass when the offense heats up.
