If we trade Dugo, we will add another OF'er- most likely a RH'd bat like Duvall.

Hang’em Chaim is going hard after a left handed reliever on the offseason.

Verdugo is the perfect trading chip for one.

Righthander Bryan Woo is a bit of a unicorn.

Woo had an ERA of 6.36 over only 69.1 innings in college before the Seattle Mariners took him in the sixth round of the 2021 draft. Woo had posted an ERA of 6.11 over 28 innings in his final season at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, before undergoing Tommy John surgery. Woo made his professional debut just 15 months ago and pitched only 101 minor league innings before his call up to the Mariners.

Seattle broadcaster Aaron Goldsmith said someone in the Mariner braintrust thought Woo should be the top pick of the 2021 draft. That's evidence that MLB front offices have far more information than we fans do.

BTW the development of Logan Gilbert and George Kirby was slowed by the cancellation of the 2020 minor league season.

On Tuesday the Mariners will face righthander Connor Phillips, their 2020 second-round draft pick out of a community college. Phillips will make his MLB debut with the Cincinnati Reds, who acquired Phillips and others in the March 2022 trade of Eugenio Suarez and Jesse Winker.

This year the Reds have also gotten 19 starts (and an ERA+ of 110) from lefthander Brandon Williamson, the Mariners' 2019 second-round draft pick out of Texas Christian University, who was also included in the Suarez/Winker trade.

We do need a lefty.

Too bad all the guys I want to be in the pen to start the year, Whitlock, Crawford, Pivetta and Houck are all righties.

I doubt they feel all set with lefties Joely and Bernardino (Murphy & Walter.)

Sure if you massively undervalue Verdugo

Who is the best lefty RP'er?

Probably Josh Hader, but he’sa free agent after this season.

Tanner Scott is another good one this year statistically, but I would not trade Verdugo for him. (Miami makes that deal so fast that they would go back in time to before that deal was made, and then make it again.)

Looking at our outfield for 2024 I am wondering who the Sox will view as a trade chip and who they will want to secure for the next 2 or more years.

In alphabetical order we have a long list of quality players and prospects who can fill the position and also who would have value as a trade chip

Abreau is well thought of but at this point his talent is questionable in comparison with several others

Anthony has advanced at a very rapid pace and may be proving himself for 2024 (the Yankees brought up a 20 YO)

Bleis is a good looking prospect but has been injured and has yet to show ML offensive capability. He is at least a year away from consideration

Duran proved himself to be a good hitter but without great power. His speed is a real asset and his fielding has improved

Duvall has power And is that brings a much needed right hand bat along with good fielding. He brings experience to the lineup. Can we sign him as a FA (He say he loves' Boston)

Rafaela is a versatile player with excellent defensive skills who could play center or infield positions. He is fast but has not played in enough ML games to demonstrate his hitting

Refsnyder is another right hand bat that is a proven hitter against left handed pitching. A low cost utility option

Verdugo has experience, fields wells and is a good ML hitter. Signing him may cost significantly more and his attitude is questioned (we lived with o0ther mavericks like Manny, Jimmy Piersall, Spaceman and others)

Yoshida has shown he can hit ML pitching although is a step slow and is marginal defensively. He has value to the Sox and his contract will make any trade considerations unlikely

Of the list, i would think that Abreu, Bleis and either Duran or Verdugo are tradeable if we decide to and can sign Duvall to a 2 to 3 year deal. If not Verdugo or Duran are likely to be kept aboard. Rafaela and Anthony are likely the next young stars.

I do like a Garrett-Duran framework. I think it makes sense for both teams, especially given Duran having another year of low money and Miami having a weak OF, deep rotation, and shallow pockets…

They may be able to develop Perales or E R-C into the next Garrett, anyway.

I admit I’m hesitant with the Sox few pitching prospects, but I think BTV is going to require more than just Duran and Romero…

Bloom and Cora are high on Abreu. He has done nothing to indicate he can't play in the majors.

I would trade Verdugo first.

Contractually Verdugo does not fit into our plan.

I don't see us extending him based on some of the things that transpired this year.

I certaintly wouldn't lose any sleep over him leaving.

Just my opinion.

Contractually and apparently attitudally, as well.

Bring back Duvall, so we have someone to play RF, if Abreu stumbles, and we'll have a more balanced L-R OF and a younger OF with Rafaela and Abreu both on the 26.

I'm not so sure how high they are on Abreu. He's averaging less than 2 PA's a day since being called up.

Sign one from Snell, Gray or Montgomery.

Sign Duvall.

Trade Duran & Romero for Garrett.

This might even keep us under the tax line, although that should not be a top priority.

His 3.9 fWAR ranks 53rd, ahead of Wacha, Giolito and Lynn and close to Nate at 4.2.

He ranks 14th in one of your favorite stats xFIP- at 3.39, which is better than Bieber, Gallen, Snell, Kirby and others.

38th in ERA- at 88 and WHIP at 1.18.

9th in K/BB 4.9.

There has to be something weird going on with Renfroe.

Every team that adds him, gets rid of him in a year or less.

6 teams in 5 years, despite a .775 OPS and averaging 34 HRs and 90 rbi per 650.

Maybe he smells really bad?

That's fine. He's a good fit for a team that can field the ball. All I said is that a guy who gives up hard contact would not be best served with the Red Sox defense playing behind him. Is that wrong?

Oh, does he reach 650 often? What's the OPS this year? If he's a bad defender, why go for a guy with an OPS under 800? Weren't people trying to run Yoshida out of town and he's producing better than Renfroe?

No, but we should be better on D with Story at SS, Reyes and Urias at 2B, Rafaela and Abreu in the OF and Yoshida not in LF.

I'm not for bringing Renfroe back and wasn't upset we traded him. It was the return that shook me to the bone, or should I say, scalp.
