Should be a great series.

Must wins for the Sox.

I'm not sure which game I will go to. I'm thinking Sale's game on Wednesday.

Paxton v Javier

Houck v Verlander

Sale v Urquiddy

Bello v Frances

If we can somehow take 3, our odds of making the playoffs will greatly increase.

It's time someone put an end to the Astros streak of making the playoffs and going to the ALCS.

One game at a time, though.

Sox sweep a series vs Yankees; Astros get swept by Mariners . The trend is in our favor, but the reality points to reversion to mean over a large sample. Kudos to MVP78 for beating the NYY'ers 3 straight. Good luck this week !

I'm told by a couple of people that Jarren Duran should be fine after leaving yesterday's Red Sox game with a toe contusion. Precautionary. No X-rays were necessary and nobody has been flown to Houston to be part of the taxi squad just in case.

Sale game is a good pick. Against Urquiddy.

How's the heat down there? I visited Houston a few times on business about 15 years ago and found that, somewhat like Montreal or Toronto, the city had invented ways for people to stroll down the streets, but inside--in Canada to avoid the winter cold and in Houston to avoid the blazing heat of sidewalks.

On the game thread I commented I thought he was overdoing the "I can get this" antics which he seems to do about once every game or two on obvious dingers. So this toe contusion was in fact self-inflicted, not a brave attempt to catch something catchable.

It's been over 102 with heat indexes between 110-118 everyday since we came back from maine on August 1st.

It never gets below 80 at night.

The humidity is oppressive.

We have already decided, we are never retiring here.

The HR landed two rows back. I can't blame him for trying. Players have been hurt worse for doing far stupider stuff.

We're supposed to get a low of 79 later this week. I don't believe it. It'll be hot here until it's time to put up the Xmas lights. 75-80 degree dewpoints are great too.

Somewhere, perhaps in a far off land, Kendrys Morales’ ears are burning…

maybe he's overcompensating on the obvious home runs, due to all the flack he (rightfully) caught last year for what appeared to be a lack of effort in the OF.

Someone might challenge you on "large sample." Does the first negate the second?

Dinosaurs (reptilian division, not old posters) haven't been around for 65 million years, after purportedly roaming the planet for at least twice that long. But one morning, as an incoming asteroid sped toward them, one told the other, "It's still early."

It was right around the All-Star break...

Agree with far stupider stuff by others, but the simple fact is that he made himself unavailable by going after an uncatchable dinger. The good news is that for now the Sox won't miss his .602 OPS in August. Besides that, his DWAR is -0.5, which is kind of lousy and worse than Devers' -0.3.

Season to date, however, Duran's overall WAR is +2.1, which is pretty darn good.

Definitely skip the Goldfinger cover.

I like the movie, same title, with Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo.

Verdugo RF

Devers 3B

Yoshida LF

Casas 1B

Duvall CF

Story DH

Reyes SS

McGuire C

Urias 2B

Interesting lineup for game 1. 1-4 are all lefty bats, then 5-7 righty bats, then lefty bat McGuire and righty bat Urias.

Big surprise is Story at DH and not Turner, with which I completely disagree--unless Turner is injured.

I think Turner admitted in an interview that he is "pretty tired" plus his sore heel can't be getting better with him playing the field for 9 innings and running bases as well. I would think he can PH if needed late in the game.

Agreed. We also might benefit by letting Story bat more and find his groove.

Javier for Houston at 32 pitches . Good to force Astros to their bullpen early today. Story has no clue whatsoever on the low slider.
