3 blown saves

Can you ever be positive?

It's not just not being positive. He has a problem being right. I've been wrong plenty of times myself, but with d-money it's a habit.

The bottom of the lineup though. Glad he recovered.

Tough win but essential as BJ's and Mariner's win. BUT more importantly, the Yankees lose their 8th straight and are way underwater.

I'm not buying what you're selling.

Lmao come up on moon. One thing i will say though how on earth you don’t play small ball there? Girardi is a clown. I would have played small ball even with judge. Judge had an awful game.

Girardi ?? When did they fire Boone----answer not soon enough

Closers need regular work. They get rusty without it.

OTOH, he’s come back really well since I posted that.

The pitch LeMahieu hit for the double was high and outside--just above the corner. He was lucky to hit it at all, and he actually hit it hard and pulled it. If I'm the guy in the dugout calling the pitches--or Wong, for that matter--I'm pretty happy with that pitch.

The HBP was bad, I agree. But, since he did it twice, I'm wondering if it was accidental.

Those two K's were fantastic, especially on Aaron Judge.

Critical play of the game was Wong's scoop and tag (??) to cut off the run in the 8th. I was with others here in seeing the runner's foot get the plate while the tag was a little high. Valentine getting it wrong (??) added to his resume as a bad umpire

Wasn't LeMahieu with the 2B, he got HBP

If that chUMP called him safe, he must have been out.

Baloney. Urias bats 9th and just got 2 grand slams. In the Yankees' Greg Allen's case, the pitch he hit hard was high and outside and therefore a good pitch by Jansen.

Bad ump, agreed. But a tough call for anybody because it was hard to see the tag.

I'm just tired of the relentless pessimism. I'm not sure I have ever heard a positive thing from you, unless it's after the game is over.

Here's how the discussion went in the reviewers' booth:

1st reviewer: "Man, that's just too close to overturn. Who made the safe call at HP?"

2nd reviewer: "Valentine."

1st reviewer: "Damn, I could have made the decision earlier if I'd known that. The call is overturned. The runner is out."

So, they knew he was paid off to fix the game for the Yanks?

That was an exciting ballgame. Back and forth right until the final out. I think some fans have become a little too jaded, unhappy , full of themselves , entitled or just plain churlish to appreciate and enjoy a good baseball game.

Valentine was awful on the balls and strikes--so bad in fact that he kept the Yankees undeservedly in the game.

But that was a really close play at the plate, so close that most of us think the reviewers at MLB headquarters got it wrong and that Valentine got it right.

Just a terrific, terrific play by Wong, clearly one of the best Sox catchers ever despite those errors. Was it yesterday he started that double play by catching that bunt in the air? No Sox catcher I can remember was quick enough and alert enough to get to that bunt.

Great point. I've been a little churlish myself, but I love watching the games. This game had something for everyone, even Yankees fans.

Jansen's 29 saves and just 3 Blown Saves can be viewed as the major reason our record has flipped from 2022, and then some!!!

2023:

36 saves

10 blown saves

78%

2022:

39 saves

29 blown saves

57%

Shirley you know that's entirely possible.

In any case, another gem from SPLENDIDSPLINTER. :)

Jansen, and Martin have made a big difference.
