Very big game.

We need the pen to carry us, once again.

"The pen is mightier than the sword" were his last words spoken before being killed in a sword fight using a pen.

Our pen has had a few hiccups along the way, but by and large, they have been the most consistent plus area of the team, next to maybe the OF.

Our overall pitching is ranked 17th in fWAR at 12.2 (0.3 from 16th NYM and 0.9 from 15th MIN.) We are ranked 13th in ERA- at 95. (1 from 12th and 2 from 9th)

Who would have thought this, knowing about how injured and or poorly Whitlock, Houck and Kluber have been, all year.

The pen places...

T3rd in ERA-- at 84

T5th in fWAR at 4.0

6th in IP

I think it is clear from the last couple games that Justin Turner is a key factor in keeping this lineup successful. Hope he is back shortly . This team may need some more veteran influences to set examples for the young guys.

Verdugo out of the lineup against a right hander. No explanation as yet.

Dugy was a late scratch, but You have 4+ OF, and Cora thinks he has to play them all.Somebody has to sit especially with Turner back. Verdugo hasn’t been hitting much for a few weeks now, but neither has Duvall.

Great day for a Sox win! I am tired of these bull pen games- even though they don't seem to be hurting us in the short term. I just want to see a starter do their thing.

Could it be that there is a negative attitude arising from Verdugo starting with his A-S snub, followed by the slump ? O'Brien says his absence from lineup is not an injury

Duvall looks like s***

Last 30 games , 12 rbis , slashing .194/.636, 40% K rate. Useless upon his return Those are Kike type numbers. Arroyo hit better

Devers makes a good stop and then hits Springer on way to first . Rafael's game is not good right now

Springer eventually scores on Kirk's double

Devers fail to pick up a roller, probably couldn't get the runner anyway

For those looking for something new for breakfast may I introduce a new cereal from Canada called Berry-O's. Fresh freeze-dried blueberries combined with circular oats. Included in each box of Berry-O's is an autographed baseball, signed by people who work in the Berry-O's factory making minimum wage, but they're Canadian, so they don't care. Don't forget to add the milk.

I believe Duvall was known as Mr. September while he was in Atlanta.

Yeah, true, and the Red Sox won the WS in '04, '07' ,'13, and '18. They should live in the present not the past

Just tuned in to see that the game is almost over already.

This team is absolutely not talented enough to make the playoffs. By the end of the day they will be your LAST PLACE BOSTON RED FLOPS

Been a definite let down since the AS break. But Story will change things quite a bit... plenty of players on this team with the ability to create more offense than we have.

i know, i was just being sarcastic. it's just that it seems every time somebody mentions how badly he's doing, someone will point out that he led the league in rbis two years ago.

We do have reinforcements on the way but I think that the four teams ahead of us in the division-and maybe even the Yankees-are better than we are.

We all knew that this was likely this year.

Similar to how great Carl Crawford was when he played for Tampa.

Record is 9-9 since A-S break and trending the wrong way today. Pretty much a .500+- team all year . Bloom & Co. gambling again on the upside of the returning guys to pick them up. I hope it happens that way, but August has not recently been kind. Sort of pushes pie in the FO's face.

Very true... it is odd that I'm almost more frustrated that we keep being 'almost good'- when I began the year thinking we would be horrible. I keep getting my hopes up from time to time- and also have a hard time thinking TB and Baltimore can be as good as they have been playing all year without a serious crash back to earth.
