When Faria throws strikes (not too often), he is a lot better.

If we get another big lead at some point I mighht give him a chance to show which guy is the real Faria, the guy who couldn't find the zone with GPS, or the guy who started attacking the strike zone and missing bats.

Major League baseball should be embarrassed by having this happen.

But enough about Faria getting outpitched by Barnhart

I love it! It's like when the emergency goalie comes in or when the wideout drops back to pass.

All that good feeling is gone. This sucks so bad. Kutter does not deserve this clown trying to finish his game

Could not disagree more because you are vastly over-reacting. Crawford still had a terrific start. The Sox still scored 11 runs, a bunch of them against the Cubs 9-2 starter whose ERA before the game was something like 2.67. The score going into the bottom of the 8th was 11-0, so to me that was the ideal time for Cora not only to send Faria out, but to leave him in after all those BB's.

11-5. Maybe I spoke too soon. :)

What a pitiful pitching exhibition by Faria. 65 pitches to get 6 outs giving up 5 runs. Need to demote him or DFA just to let the rest of the guys at MLB and MiLB levels that that this garbage will not get you a paycheck.

Orioles win, BJ's win, Yankees leading 3-1 in 7th, Rays getting beat in 9th , 8-4 . AL east down to 1 game lead if it holds

Any idea when houck is coming back?

His arm, etc are all fine, but apparently the Sox (and the doctors) want to give his face plenty of time to heal. So the word is August. There is finally a report on Whitlock, not good: August or September. He has not thrown at all since that one inning. They are waiting for the bone bruise in his elbow to "resolve itself." Sale is also August at the earliest.

Kluber just might return first. Plus Pivetta will probably pitch tomorrow--long reliever after someone from the bullpen starts.

In that context Crawford's 6 IP and 0 runs today were huge.

My concern for Houck is between the ears. We've both been around long enough to know that some guys come back okay after such an injury, others do not. The results are definitely mixed.

Fun day at Wrigley.

Fatima needs to go. Glad we passed on legitimate MLB RHSP Chris Flexen to keep that roster spot open…

I don’t think Houck has much going on in there too cause worry…

That’s a long way out. Well hope for the best here.

You have to like where we are right now, and our odds of sneaking into the playoffs.

- The Yankees can't string hits together (a problem that won't be totally fixed when Judge comes back)

- The Blue Jays can't hit right handed pitching consistently.

- The Astros are no longer the offensive or pitching force they used to be. Still very good on both sides, but not as elite as we're used to.

- We still have 7 with the Yankees, 6 with the Blue Jays and 6 with the Astros.

We're 50-44, with the next 6 games against mediocre teams (with another 9 game stretch in early August against KC, DET, WAS).

If Chaim doesn't buy at the deadline, somebody needs to show him the door. But, don't give up Mayer, Rafaela, or any other top prospect. We only need a few small ripples, not a big splash.
