I feel safe saying that Sale is back.

I'm not talking about freakin' Chris Sale: I'm talking...

Chris Freakin' Sale!

Yeah, yeah. But last night we saw that what the starters take away from opposing lineups, our bullpen has decided they should give back. Winck and Jansen are probably our two best and gave up 6 runs.

To be honest, Sale is clearly an ace, and Paxton really impressed me last night, especially after giving up 2 in the 1st inning. Kluber, maybe. But I do like Bello and this year I like Houck too. So that's four pretty decent starters plus Kluber.

Or put it this way. Pivetta right now looks like a liability as a starter, and Cora doesn't have to start him. And hopefully last night's implosion in the bullpen was an aberration.

If Pivetta has options, consider them. I think he could be offered at trade deadline

Arenado owns the SOX. Mistakes shall not pass.

Wasn't that bad a pitch. Just a great swing by Arenado--helped by righty vs lefty.

What's kind of neat is that Sale hasn't backed off and just struck out the next three Cardinals--3d time through the lineup too.

Plus today the changeup flat isn't working, so he's relying more on command, the slider, the 4 seamer, and the cut fastball.

In a game that you are inclined to feel is in good hands and a virtual win, think again about 6 outs to go. Sale needs to shutdown the 8th , ending with about 100+ pitches and one of the BP geniuses ( less the alleged best 2) needs to come in for #9

I understand bringing Kenley in for the close out, but wonder if he is having any further back trouble that may affect his back to back appearances. Hoping he closes it easily, because the alternative would raise big questions

I flat do not understand why Jansen is in there.

If you do not think Jansen isn't somewhat diminished physically , you aren't watching

Not sure what Cora is waiting to get his ass out of the mound.

Lol Kike s*** the bed. Agian.

Ultimately this is on Cora though.

Mostly on Cora. Gotta give some credit to Jansen. He's the one with the gigantic paycheck.

Now that the starting pitching is coming along the BP sucks.

It’s on Jansen, Kike and Cora exclusively today.

Well, maybe we can renew the discussion on the bullpen. Cora and his pitching coach knew Jansen was flat awful last night, but today they decided that absolutely nobody else in the bullpen could get a save with a 3-1 lead. It had to be Jansen.

Last night the bullpen gave up 6 runs, and today they gave up 3 runs. To me that's "trouble with the bullpen."

This is also what happens in baseball when a team that is much better than its record starts turning the corner.

Still both games were winnables.

That’s the thing with closers. It’s the “everybody needs to know their role” mentality that makes you do the same thing over and over and expect different results. Why not let Schreiber get a save? Oh wait, he isn’t a closer!!”

Just waiting for someone to say, WTF happened to the hitters today ?? I'll wait. 3 runs should have won the game but this team needs 6-7-8 to cover

Their closer collapses?

Is there really no other option on this team at SS?

Whoever is literally better than Hernandez.
