In the past 15 games has any Red Sox pitcher made it through 6 innings ? Cora better not pull Whitlock yet. I think he can get through 6 with the lead.

Chang swinging at pitches in virtually unhittable locations for RH batter. His heroics yesterday have hurt him

If you don't enjoy watching Whitlock pitch, why are you Sox fan?

And tomorrow we get to watch Bello. I get the wins and losses but we have some young players worth watching.

Turner's HR must have pissed Detmers off.

He got some nasty stuff; I can see why he had a no hitter last year. Wouldn’t shock me to see him get another at some point in his career.

That comment reminds me of the old Sox blog site (now gone) on which Terry Francona was routinely blasted for being incompetent. Reason: every loss was his fault and never the players.

Right now Cora is managing a Sox team with just four weaknesses: hitting, pitching, fielding, and baserunning. But, if they win today, they will be back to .500.

Were you or I managing this team, we would have reason to be suicidal.

Should I demand my Whitlock belongs in the rotation and not the bullpen tour now? Or wait a little longer?

But that double play was clutch, also allows you to face Trout with two outs and the bases empty.

I love the ideal of being able to get trout as the third out and splitting him and Ohtani. Completely different inning with that GDP

Yes, I was concerned that the leadoff walk was going to turn the game against Garrett and the Sox with Trout and then Ohtani coming up. Having Neto ( now in his 44th professional level game) in the leadoff position backfiring

Devers the rally-killer.

With his contractual situation locked up, Bloom can entertain offers at the deadline that might bring in 2 or even 3 prospects to fill out the Portland roster

You have every reason to tout Whitlock. He's a little wild, but his stuff is good and he doesn't seem to be throwing as many fastballs (which are hittable) as last time.

Me, I was ready to demote him to AA after his first start--to heck with the bullpen.

I deserve that.

Unless we score a few more runs, we may have to find out if Jansen can go 3 days straight, . Surprised Cora brought Whitlock back against the middle of the Angel's lineup, but only need to get Renfroe . Hold your breath

Jim Rice for many seasons with the SOX led the team in hitting into DP's. Probably should have traded him for prospects.

About the defense. Refsnyder in LF, Kike in CF, and Dugo in RF is actually a pretty decent defense. So are Devers, Chang, Arroyo, and Turner. And Wong behind the plate.

I think Whitlock has fallen in love with that curve ball--and with good reason. Maybe he will throw those straight ones--which he has loved way too much--a little less often.

Great work by Whitlock, going 98 pitches on a surgically repaired hip in his second MLB start of '23. Amazing what the Sox can do vs evenly matched opponents. They do need this game with Ohtani pitching tomorrow. He is actually quite good.

On a serious note, Whitlock wants to be starter. He is under team control for six years. You'd be a fool to put him in the pen.

Go ahead. Pile it on. Sox are winning 2-1 and actually look like a MLB team today.

Sox fans in the seats might be the reason. First two games back at the Fens and the temp in the low 50's, the attendance was 36,680 and 36,594. Today's might be even higher.

Ryan Dempster was one of the classiest players to ever play for the SOX. After the 2nd year of a 3 year contract Ryan announced his retirement. He felt he wouldn't be helping the SOX on the 3rd year and that the money he gave up could be more helpful for the team. You don't see that everyday in professional sports.

I can think of a few players in recent years who could have helped the team similarly, but it's a business don't you know
