More RS defense! Did Vertugo forget the rules of baseball? (Looking again, it must be that he expected the cut-off guy to take the throw better? But he doesn't seem like he would show up a team-mate in that case. Guy must have been in the wrong place?) Edited by jad

I can see Casas being the LH version of Dalbec.

You wish it would not be that way but Tristan is not showing much so far.

If Casas had cut that off, they might have had a shot. It was stupid baserunning by Franco that even made a play possible.

It’s a shame that guys like Trout, Othani and Devers waste their careers in teams like this.

As opposed to guys like Wander Franco who take less money and help their team win, but do so in front of maybe 2,000 people every night?

Did Casas forget to set up as a cutoff/relay man to give a known weak armed Verdugo a chance on a sliding catch ? I don't think that was Verdugo's mistake, he just can't throw real well, like Damon

Yes, an egregious error by Dalbec that led to an unearned run.

But the villain of this game is the vastly overpaid Chris Sale.

I realize Chang cannot hit, but wasting one of three outs to move the runner. Chang was perhaps trying surprise and bunt his way on.

Well, at least he can hit. On this team he's as rare as a white tiger.

The RS can't even play intelligibly enough to be understood by professional sports broadcasters

WTF???? TWO RUNS DOWN in the 9th???? You BUNT? Even the Rays announcers are baffled.

He was bunting for a hit; the problem was he already showed it, which brought the 3B in. He puts that bunt down on the first pitch and it’s a hit.

Intelligible and sports casters ? That's a stretch

I think Casas' futility at the plate is effecting his play in the field.

Plus, watching these two teams in action it's obvious the Rays are much better coached. In fact, I would go so far as to say this Sox team looks uncoached, period.

Wasn’t trying to move the runner; he was bunting for a hit which would have happened had he put it down on the first pitch.

12 games in , trailing by 7 and income taxes not yet due. I do believe the Sox will win tomorrow and break this streak before it ties the record for a season start. Not since the Brewers of 1987 has any team gone 13-0

The good news is the Red Sox scored some runs tonight. The bad news is they lost again, and Sale had a rough outing again.

At what point does losing no longer fall in the category of 'bad news?' I guess we'll find out.

Intelligible means understandable, not intelligent.

Sox players are by and large intelligible--in some cases, given a translator--but they play stupid ball most of the time. Maybe not stupid, just uncoached.

Damon had no arm strength.

Verdugo actually does have good arm strength, but no accuracy.

StatCast had his max velocity last year at 98.9mph, tops among Sox outfielders and 18th highest in MLB…

A chance to be spoilers.

Poorly constructed, poorly coached and poorly managed. Trifecta

The bad news is Sale is under contract for 2024. The good news is it doesn’t look like his 2025 option will vest…

The Brewers also missed the postseason that year, going 78-71 the rest of the way.

Although they would have been the second wild card had one existed…

Which players are moved at the trade deadline for prospects? Turner, Kike, Duvall, Kluber, Schreiber? They won't get much for them but what good are they on this team. Duvall may bring something if he hits when he gets healthy. This team really sucks right now with no hope in sight, except for maybe Bello. Paxton did ok in his last rehab start. What a mess Bloom has created.
