McGuire gets a day off. Maybe Wong will be Crawford's caddy, if he sticks in the rotation.

Today's line-up:

1. Verdugo RF

2. Devers 3B

3. Turner DH

4. Yoshida LF

5. Duvall CF

6. Casas 1B

7. Arroyo 2B

8. Kike SS

9. Wong C

Does anyone think the line-up changes much, if we face a lefty?

When we faced Cole, a lefty, Cora batted Ref first and Dugo 6th. Could Kike bat lead-off v lefties, going forward? I might move Duvall up, too. (Not like Turner deserves being moved down.)

1. Kike R (SS)

2. Devers L (3B)

3. Duvall R (CF) or Turner R (DH)

4. Yoshida L (LF)

5. Turner R (DH) or Duvall R (CF)

6. Verdugo L (RF)

7. Casas L (1B)

8. Arroyo R (2B)

9. McGuire L ©

It's actually Wong's second start in a row after McGuire started the first two. Interesting that they paired McGuire with the older guys and Wong with the younger guys.

Right now i wouldn’t change a thing. Dugy can hit LHP some, and i wouldn’t move Duvall anywhere right now either, because he’s getting plenty of RBI chances where he is. 9 runs a game right now, so why would you want to change anything? Later maybe.

Not sure how they’ll split it, but 60/40 sounds about right.

Would be nice if Crawford doesn’t give up BP.

Don't wish for what is not possible. Crawford's whole delivery is a message that he is not a serious prospect for a starting pitcher. The short arm style is better suited to a catcher

Tells you how much our starting staff thinks. They did nothing to improve the pitching. Wait till they play some really good teams.

Maybe there's more familiarity with Wong catching them in the minors?

Probably should have thrown that curve more often.

Also, against all those lefty hitters, no changeup.

Interesting factoids about these Sox. The first three starters didn't start for the Sox last year. And the 3, 4, and 5 hitters weren't on the Sox last year.

Tampa is off to a good start. I would feel good about them winning the division if their offense was good. Their starting staff is better than the Yankees.

i trust Devers got paid for his bat, not glove and arm

I am just glad he will be here for awhile. We have let some home grown talent leave.

3-3 all real quick. Note that Ovieda throws in a bit of a similar style to Crawford, and gets similar results

Both guys also work in the upper half of the zone, a real key to success

Yes, I agree. I've always felt that pitchers get over on that unearned runs rule. But it is a fact that Devers's terrible misplay should have been an easy 3d out.

On the other hand, the Sox have already tied it up on Yoshida's oppo field dinger.

Yoshi has looked good early.

Glad to see Casas use the Pesky pole corner to get us up in the 1st. Amazing turnaround.

Hopefully they can pound pirates pitching this series lol.
