He would not be the guy I mention when naming our best 5-6 prospects, of even our best 15 or maybe 20.

Yeah, he's not in my top 20.

I didn't realize this because I don't read WOO boxscores, but Dalbec has played RF in 35 G. I'm not sure I've heard how his defense looks.

Anthony has a 1.035 OPS in AA in a small sample size.

Last night, he walked twice and doubled (3 runs/3 rbi)

Hickey went 2-4 and is at .835. He walked once.

Yorke 2-5. (.801)

Meidroth 2-4 w BB (.768)

The team walked 10 times. I wish the big club would do that.

Zack Kelly is back and was the opener: 2IP, 1H, 1ER, oBB, 1 K

Teel 1-3 w 2 BB and 3 rbi (.951)

Anthony’s approach at the plate is years ahead of his age. He has a really good eye. When he is not overextending trying to hit home runs, he is really short the ball and has an excellent eye.

I know he starts 2024 in Portland, but if he stays with his plan of getting the bat on balls he can handle, he might possibly be a September 2024 call up

Teel, Mayer, Anthony and Wikelman are projected at Portland to start the 2024 season.

I wish I still lived in Portland.

Player of the Day: Unranked to start the season coming off an inconsistent year in the Florida Complex League, Yordanny Monegro has made the leap into the system's top 25 prospects. If Thursday's division series victory was his final start of 2023, it was the perfect cap on his breakthrough year. Monegro led all pitchers in the system (minimum 60 innings) with a 2.06 ERA across his three levels, striking out 12.75 batters per nine innings, and going until his final start of the season before allowing his first home run.

...Despite an uneven second half and the losses of several top prospects to promotions, Greenville swept Hickory two games to none to claim the South Atlantic League South Division title.

Doesn’t get swing and miss on his FB, but if he can add 2-3 mph maybe that changes.

He's still young.

Let's see how he does at higher levels.

His pure stuff does not pop when you watch him in person!

But I think his moxie is off the charts!!!

Roman Anthony “was the only hitter under 28 years old in the minor leagues to meet the following thresholds: A 90th percentile exit velocity of 105 mph or higher, a contact rate above 74%, an in-zone contact rate of 83% or higher and a chase rate of 20% or below.”

He's just a suspect, until he delivers in the bigs...

A young batter who makes above-average contact, always hits the ball hard and doesn't chase out of the zone?

Is that even legal in Boston? There has to at least be some kind of rule against it with runners in scoring position... definitely if it's a ghost runner.

There is still time to “develop” him into who we want him to be.

I have seen a lot of hitters come through the Red Sox minor league facility, but none like him!

I would love to see him in arizona next month

He did play the 14th most games of anyone on the farm, but if they think he could use some more work, fine with me!

Greenville Drive wins A+ championship!

Kristian Campbell was the hero, again. He went 3-4 with an HR and 3RBI in the 7-3 win. Castro went 2-4 w BB. Rosario homered.

Rogers started and went 3IP 1 ER.

Penrod went 5 IP 2 ER (1BB and 7Ks)

The staff combined for 14Ks and just 3BB and 6 hits allowed.

Congrats!

WOO lost 4-3 as Joely blew the save and Garza got the loss.

Scott homered (.822 OPS)

Rosier went 2-5 (up to .895, now.)

EValdez walked twice (.864)

Doesn't.....doesn't Triston Casas do all of that?

Player of the Day: Kristian Campbell ended his great 2023 season on a high note with three hits and a home run in Greenville's title-clincher. After eight games with the FCL Red Sox, where he posted a .391 batting average and a 1.082 OPS, Campbell was called up to Greenville. He had a nice regular season, with an .822 OPS in 14 games and had an even better postseason. It was a successful first professional season for the 21-year old shortstop.

He has a weird swing, but it's working so far.

He is 21, but a twitchy athlete and a late to baseball ... he could make some jumps developmentally for sure, though his future might be more in the outfield.

It is wild that Anthony - who might start next year as the top prospect in all of baseball - has made Mayer ... ALSO one of the youngest regulars in AA, and still very much one of the top dozen prospects in the game ... almost look bad.
Posted
Mayer will probably slip in the rankings a little bit, but he didn't get on the field a lot during the second half of the season. I don't think it's a drop in talent, definitely still top 10 worthy. Looks like the Sox have 2 of those guys. That's really freaking exciting.

When was the last time a Sox farm system just graduated 2 players like Bello & Casas and still had a top 4 like this?

1. Anthony

2. Mayer

3. Teel

4. Bleis

I'm really high on Cespedes, too, but it will take time for him to show he belongs in MLBs top 50-100.

I also see hope in Rafaela, Yorke, Wikelman, Perales, Zanetello, Joh Garcia, Castro and Abreu.

We have a bunch of farther away guys that will likely jump up, next year (and some that fall.)
