Yes, I think he is a clubhouse cancer

Dugo is late for two games and he is labeled a cancer and needs to go. Meanwhile others are suggesting buy low candidates include serial wife abusers Julio Urias and Wander Franco, accused of having an inappropriate relationship with an alleged 14yo girl. What’s the logic there? “At least their ON TIME!”?

I’m pretty sure the person who suggested going after Wander Franco is a troll. I don’t think anyone actually wants the Sox to touch that disgusting mess.

Indeed, and I think not running out ground balls is part of the "cancer" opinion.

My reason for considering a trade of Dugo is more about his one year of control and our need to flip a position from a LHB to a solid RHB.

Counting on Rafaela's bat to be the RHB, after Duvall and JT bolt, is an issue.

We aren't replacing Yoshida, Devers or Casas. We could trade Duran, instead, but then we'd need another OF'er after Dugo bolts.

Hopefully, Story can be a big RH'd bat, but I think we need another.

Or… the Sox could extend Verdugo.

Unlike the last guy, Verdugo has reportedly approached Boston about getting an extension and might even want to play for the Sox.

Trading Verdugo solves what? One year with of rotation? Or a mild prospect who might morph into Kutter Crawford 2.0 as his ceiling?

It’s not worth it at this point. Duran will bring back a better pitcher…

Talksox seems to agree that the Sox should either trade Verdugo or Duran.

Surplus of OF + shortage of pitching. And just saying, the Marlins have the opposite…

I'm not anti-Dugo. I'd be fine extending him and trading the higher valued Duran is a larger package for a SP'er (see your MIA post.)

He's a better defender and maybe even a better bet to do well on offense in the next 2-3 years over Duran. I like Duran's speed, and if I knew he could get on base over 35% of the time, I'd trade Dugo instead. IMO, one should go, this winter. Like you said, OF has a surplus, and I really like Rafaela and Abreu. (I even like Rosier.) I would not hand a starting position to any of these rookies, but I'd set it up where one slot could be won by either or both. I'd like us to trade Duran or Dugo and bring Duvall back, but not as our CF'er.

Neither Duran or Dugo will bring back a very good pitcher, so a package would be needed for both. The one with Dugo would require better or more prospects attached, but something should be worked out.

It's a position of strength. And I do think they need to get a runway to get Rafaela out there full time.

Does Yoshida’s value increase if he convinces his close friend Yoshinobu Yamamoto to join Red Sox and he becomes an ace?

Sure, I'll go along with that.

Exponentially, YES!

If Yoshida can help convince Yama-San to come here he can spend the rest of his contract on the IL receiving Piña Coladas from Bellhorn every day.

Are Canadian Piña Coladas good?

That recipe calls for coconut milk. I've heard that your milk often has mice in it. Does your coconut milk have mice too?

The only mice I have are the dead ones the cat deposits at the door.

I, too, own many cats. But like most Dominicans, they are lazy, and want the mice fed to them.

Don't know if this was posted before. It basically says that Yoshida's issue right now is that he's chasing offspeed pitches. Considering the type of hitter that he is, he should be able to turn it around. Again, he shouldn't be a a fulltime LF. Maybe a greater workload at DH would save him next season? Acclimating to MLB was going to be hard and I didn't expect this to be his best year. He should be better next year. The question is how much better can he actually be?

The thing is, the issue has been going on quite a while now. Since June 1, in 320 PA's, he has only 13 walks, with 47 K's, and a .316 OBP. We're over 3 months of concerning numbers now.

He had a very bad August. He's making hard contact, which is why his July OPS was still in the 800's even though his BB rate was down.

Why is June 1st so important?

Because it maximizes the point you want to make?

Why not choose day one?

Or since 8/28?

.842 OPS (.342 OBP)

Hard contact? He chops the ball over half the time. He's in the bottom percentile of the league when it comes to barrels and hard hit rate

No, I just started by looking at the monthly splits. June is the month when his K/BB ratio started to get worse. It's been a steady monthly decline. Look at the splits yourself.

I understand, but the time frame you chose didn't just happen to be the worst by accident.

Now you're just reading too much into this.

I looked at his monthly splits, the pattern keeps getting worse and seems to indicate a serious issue. The numbers are what they are.
