Feels like the Yankees are gonna trade away a starter now. They still need a LF and I doubt they're planning to spend much more this offseason. My guess would be Montas, but they could probably get a good haul for either Sevy or Nestor.

Sell high on Nestor. 2023 was just a mirage.

How about Downs, Dalbec and Duran for ole Nesty?

It's certainly possible 2022 was his career year, but he's still only 28 years and last season he went out and proved that his 2021 season wasn't a fluke. I guess he needs to prove it every year though since he looks like an assistant gym teacher?

I think they need to swing Schmidt and German into the swing role that King used to occupy. We shall see. I have a feeling they’re gonna be bringing in some serious talent for the OF

I think German should be our closer

He'd be nasty there. Rotation is deep enough. I dont think they need an OF though. I'd try to trade Torres if the price is right or if someone would take hicks too, just give him away then.

German is way too homer prone to be back end of pen. Holmes earned the job for now. I like our staff. I think Kahnle adds what we lose with Green. We have depth, lefties, righties, here, finesse.

I just want to see us upgrade in LF. I guess they’re counting on DJ to start at 3b. But starting Hicks in any capacity for outset of the year is a fools errand

I think they will still reset every 3 years. Hal is no George.

If others try to keep up with Cohen, like it appears SD, TX and PHI have attempted to do, watch out!

Did you read the piece on MLBT how Cohen "missed out" on Correa. It's an interesting insight into negotiations. It looked like the Mets might jump into the bidding, late, but SF and BorA$$ were already "in too deep," that BorA$$ didn't even want to talk. (Strange for him.)

But he's also paying one guy $360 million, one $324 million, one $220 million, one $162 million...

Does that mean John Henry likes the money even more?

Same guy who called the Rodon signing says Yanks are in deep negotiations to get Bednar and Reynolds with NY. Price is apparently very steep

Maybe, you guys will finally go "above and beyond" to set yourselves up as the faves.

They key might end up being deadline decisions.

Henry has sent that message loudly and clearly…

The problem we run into is having to overpay at the deadline for holes we had on opening day. Fix the holes for opening day and you don’t need to pick a front of the rotation starter, a starting outfielder and a closer

GMs are overpaying, now, too, but yes.

The think I think Cashman keeps falling short on, though, is making bigger deadline deals to get you guys over the top.

Reynolds and Bedard are just what you need. I hope you grossly overpay for them.

We got two semi decent prospects. One with a good eye and speed and another with an electric arm. Luetge was really good, though, so this sounds like a waste of a good pen arm. So be it

Yanks still in need of a LFer. I’m sick of having to deal for known problems that could have been fixed over the winter. Conforto would have been a great choice.

Good under the radar MiLB deal today. Willie Calhoun, former top prospect who’s had some badluck, bad attitude and some poor performance of late is the latest Cash minor league deal that could provide some fruit. Lefties do well in YS and he just so happens to play the one position we need. It’s a lottery ticket, but this one I don’t mind having

The Yanks just added Omar Minaya as a Senior Advisor. He joins Brian Sabean, who was added in the same position.

They must think Cashman needs help.

So Yanks got some good news on Lemahieu. No surgery needed, should be 100% come ST. Doesn't meant they can pencil him in as a starter. With the OF market dried up and trades less likely, I think the team will look as follows

C- Trevino- hit over his head in the first half, cratered the second but was awesome behind the plate calling, blocking and throwing

1B- Rizzo- assuming his back can stay healthy, the old man can swat for sure

2B- Torres- still a very good regular, alternates massive production with tremendous droughts

SS- Peraza/IKF- I think we see IKF out the gate, I think Peraza takes his job. The kid has all 5 tools and is ready. IKF was holding the place for him

3B- Donaldson/Lemahieu- I think this will start out as a true time share. If Donaldson's bat returns, then Lemahieu will be deployed as a super sub. If it doesn't they'll lean on DJ in the POs but limit his time in the field as much as they can

LF- Cabrera- Oswaldo displayed amazing defense and after an adjustment period, hit well. Hicks will be there if he stumbles, but Hicks likes to stumble too

CF- Bader- I love this kid. Too bad he is only here for a year. We will get GG defense, offense can be hit or miss

RF- Judge- All Rise, HOF track career thus far

DH- Stanton et al- Stanton needs to be given the Lemahieu treatment. Stanton was a world beater before getting hurt and came back looking hurt. I would rotate guys into this role and cap Stanton at 100 games. We have the depth to cover for him

Plan needs to be health for the POs. We killed it last year first three months then guys went down. Need to load manage and ensure to the best you can that your whole offense will be there and not limping come October

I would still like to see another middle of the order style bat come in. Because when Judge goes cold, the offense cannot hit

Apparently Frankie Montas injured himself while avoiding arbitration. That process must be more physical than I realized…
Posted
German to slot into the 5 hole. Anything we get from Montas is a bonus

He's just the first to go down.

Your team is maybe the most injury prone team in MLB the last few years. Last year was not so bad, so expect a double whammy, this year.

Not so bad?

Benintendi lost for the POs

DJ lost for the POs

Stanton clearly hurt in the POs

Montas hurt for the POs

Chad Green TJS

Michael King broken elbow

Loaisiga missed time

Chapman was hurt and came back useless

Holmes threw out his back and was a shell in the POs

Yes, that was precisely "not so bad." Make a list of the players out hurt in 2021 and previous years. Plus, you traded for two guys on the list.
