Hard pass on Yelich who is in decline, and even if the decline of the bat slows down or he bounces back a bit I still think the defense is going into a tailspin. He's a left fielder, we don't need a leftfielder. Our biggest problem in the outfield is we have effectively ALL left fielder on the roster (Verdugo is passable in right). WHy, why would we trade for another left fielder????

And trading away a top prospects who can play RF/CF at that. Houck also might be closer in making. I'd eat socks if we made that trade.

I don't want Yelich for 2-3 years, let alone 7, but to get a front line pitcher for just Rafaela, that's the price you pay. I'm not sure it's worth it, even by having MIL pay half his contract.

I only suggested the trade I listed as an example of a way to get a top starter.

Don't worry - no trade proposed on Talksox has ever occurred.

My bad. Williams is a RP'er.

Like I said, I just presented the trade suggestion as an example of how to get a good pitcher without paying big salary (MIL paid half of the Yelich deal) or giving up 3 good/top prospects.

But you are saying Conforto, instead?

The Mariners could target Seattle native Michael Conforto given Mitch Haniger’s pending free agency and the uncertain futures of Kyle Lewis, Jarred Kelenic and Taylor Trammell.

BTV does like Edward Cabrera for Cedanne Rafaela…

I'm a big believer in rafaela, but getting a young and promising pitcher like E Cab, I'd have to do it, despite the BB/9 issues.

Good to see Kike back. Too bad he missed so much time.

I just think I took his defense for granted. Watching him roam around in center has been a joy to watch

That catch that robbed a HR was fantastic. He's really quite and athlete.

I'm glad he's coming back. He needs to stay off the IL and maybe get over the slow start syndrome.

Now see I missed him every time the camera panned to Jarren Duran…

How about Rafaela, Yorke, Murphy & Seabold

for

Luzardo & E Cabrera?

Keep it simple.

Not even sure they want to move two arms. I think the Marlins want to capitalize on their surplus and remove an arbitration case, but I don’t think they want to deplete their pitching…

Hey, they get the great Murphy & Seabold!

If we just get Cabrera (or Lopez or Luzardo or Garrett or Rogers), I’ll be happy…

Me, too. I was just thinking that maybe both Luzardo (3 yrs remaining) and Lopez (2 yrs remaining) might be more available, especially since they have Cabrera (5 yrs remaining) in the wings.

They'd still have:

Alcantara 5

Rogers 4

Garrett 5

Cabrera 5

and 2 highly ranked pitcher in

Perez (68.8 on BTV)

Meyer (23.2)

As long as he fields like this and provides some offense (more than JBJ this year) I’m fine with his slow starts. His defense is game changing and he seems to always come up with timely hits

Plus, being hot at the end of the year, including the playoffs, is better than the reverse.

Also, Sox fans have been spoiled with our center fielders (not including Duran). Crisp, ellsbury, JBJ, Mookie when he was out there and now Kike

Ellsbury had a slow start at becoming a plus defensive CF'er.
