Dalbec or Casas?

Dalbec is the obvious answer but I was joking about Casas. (I caught some grief for suggesting he might be the guy we need to trade to get an ace, this winter.)

It sure felt that way.

How does he get hit by pitch when his elbow was in the strike zone? And how does the ump explain that to Cora?

If there's one thing the SOX have been deficient with this season is TIMELY HITTING!

And the pen

And the managing

And most of the SPing

And focusing on the game

Etc

True. In this case, some credit has to go to the Rays reliever, who threw some excellent pitches.

Indeed, we are watching a team with good pitching battle a team with lousy pitching--except for Wacha's quality start.

Once the Rays bullpen appeared, scoring was bound to be tough.

And now that the Sox bullpen is engaged, holding a 3-2 lead is problematical.

That said, the HBP was just weird. On the other hand, it was reasonable to expect Brujan to get a BB.

Game now tied, man on 2b with 1 out.

Hello, Sox bullpen.

This game is typical of Red Sox performances in Tampa Bay over the last few years. Even when they have a lead late in the game they can’t hold it and Tampa scores a lot of runs by way of walks and hit by pitches and weird plays.

No etc to it. The Sox have the 2d worst pitching in the AL and the Rays have the 2d best. That's essentially why the Rays have a 74-58 record and the Sox are 67-68.

One thing's for sure; in most games between the SOX and the Rays Cash will out-manage Cora.

Tampa also has a lot of guys who get hits in the clutch which the Red Sox do not.

The HBP was very weird, but Familia wanted to walk him anyway--he threw 10 pitches, 4 for strikes.

And the Rays hits looked pretty solid to me. You want a fluky hit, sit Devers' rbi bloop single.

This year the late innings belong to the Rays because of their vastly better bullpen than the Sox.

Yes, managers often remove bad-armed catchers when men get on base. (LOL)

No, MOON, you remove Plawecki at the same time that Wacha was done. Stick up for cult leader Cora, but that was a mistake.

Franchy's positions for the next couple months will be prone and reclining

I get Arroyo DH for JD, but the only place Franchy should be playing is back in Worcester with Duran. Franchy sucks on D, and can’t hit either. Bad move by Cora to play him.

You really believe that?

I thought you were being sarcastic.
