That’s what JD is. No reason to believe Casas would be better than 2022 JD on day 1.

I am willing to give Hosmer time to get acclimated to Boston before I judge him. He is good defensively and Padres are paying him so there is no down side to him playing. Casas is not ready yet anyway. I think Hosmer will be the opening day 2023 day starter.
