I’m just ready for this season to end, and get to the off season, and see how things shake out.

I'm excited about this winter. Even if we spend right up to the tax line without going over, it's a lot of money. Unlike Ben, I think Bloom will pull the trigger on one big prospect for cost-controlled ML talent to fill one slot- most likely a top of rotation spot.

I'm still enjoying this season, and look for ward to every Bello and Wacha start.

I'm into watching McGuire and Wong.

I'd like to see Refsnyder full time.

I enjoy watching Kike in CF. I'd like to see Arroyo play everyday.

I also greatly appreciate Bogey's improved D at SS and Devers at 3B.

I think we have a nice core of players to work with- many that are not stars but who do what needs to be done- like Dugo and Pivetta.

The team's record sucks, but as a fan, I see things to be optimistic about.

The Notin Moves

1. Sign Wacha

2. Trade for a Miami SP. Ceddane Rafaela and Wikelman Gonzalez for Jesus Luzardo works on BTV and feels reasonable.

3. Trade for Ramon Laureano. No idea what it would take.

4. Sign CF Brandon Nimmo.

5. Sign 2-3 RPs. Top choices are Michael Fulmer and Rafael Montero

6. Deal Hosmer. Likely for an arb-eligible RP from Milwaukee, Pitt or Oakland.

7. Get a DH. My top choice is Brandon Belt, but the extremely legitimate health concerns are a really good argument against.

Play ball!

Like I’ve said all along, but Bogey, and the Raffy situations have to be decided first before anything else can get done. As for the rest of the season I’ve seen enough out of everybody except just to see Bello develop more, and also Casas.

While it would be nice, the Devers situation doesn’t have to be resolved; he’s under team control for 2023.

Bogaerts is headed to free agency and it’s going to come down to his demands. There are reasons in his 2022 to extend him and reasons to let him walk…

The Devers situation doesn’t have to be decided now, but how much money being tied up for years down the road I would think would have to be known in signings of other players for more than a year. Also if he can’t be signed now then trade him. Play ball!

I think Bloom will always look for several 1 year deals, but this winter, I'm thinking he will go 3 or more years on at least 2 players- probably 3. Unless these contracts are huge, we should be a ble to re-sign Devers, especially if we reset in 2023.

So, Kike to 2B and Story to SS?

I'd keep Kike in CF, sign Nimmo for RF and get a 2B/SS somehow (Swanson or KWong?)

If the Sox sign a SS, I’d just assume bring back X. And then avoid Nimmo or Laureano.

I think Nimmo and his OBP are important, but I would greatly prefer Laureano in RF defensively, especially at Fenway..,

With Kike in CF, where he is better than 2B, I don't see the need to add two top quality OF'ers.

I'd like to, but we need OF + 2B/SS mor ethan 2 OF'ers.

I don't think we spend big on DH or 1B/DH, either.

Luzardo has had a bounceback season. I wonder if they adjust his BTV this offseason.

Still seems like that staff needs a little help.

Story doesn't have the arm for SS anymore. Story is the 2b.

BTV makes adjustments several times a year.

I've heard differing opinions on Story's arm.

He looks great at 2B, so I'd prefer not messing that up.

If we can't get Bogey to take $150M/6- maybe $156M/6 or $165M/7, I'd go for Swanson.

I would not go super large and long on Turner or Correa.

They seem to have been adjusting those values on BTV. The values of Luzardo, Rogers, Garrett and Cabrera have all changed recently. Likely all due to changing their remaining service time. Of course if whatever sites they use for performance projections changes what Luzardo is expected to do, that’s another matter.

I’d like to see another SP, but it’s hard to guess from where. I wouldn’t sign deGrom for fear that the mere act of inking his name on the deal will rip two tensions in his hand…

Sale, Paxton and deGrom will all vie for the CY and the IL.

Story has looked good at 2B, but let’s remember he won’t be playing in short RF next year whether that matters, or not on where he should play next year.

Who has specifically said he can NOT play SS?

I find words like "better suited to play 2B," not he can't play SS. So, I ask, are you a scout?

Posted
According to NJ Advance Media, several scouts around the league believe that Story is better suited to play second base due to his diminished arm strength. Story has dealt with several elbow strains over the last few seasons, which is why a shift to second could help reduce the wear-and-tear on his arm.

So because our tacticians in the front office managed to go over the CBT, we will have to lose two picks in the draft if we sign a FA who has been made a QO. Bloom couldn't decide whether to add or subtract so got us the penalty for our last place team. Nice Going.

I'm not, but when guys the SoxProspect guys are saying that their scout buddies and people in the org they talk to state that Story can't play SS anymore, I listen.

What you're leaving out is that every team that signs a QO'd FA loses one pick.

The incremental penalty for going over the CBT is a fifth-round pick.
