Early returns but so far Story is a huge bust for what he is getting paid. What’s his contract like-6 years? I can’t see being stuck with him that long if he is going to flame out like this.

Story’s glove has been outstanding.

He could benefit with a better 2 strike approach at the plate like Vazquez to cut down on the dreadful number of strike outs.

He is part of the problem, but not "huge." Indeed, the Sox have three unreliable components right now: hitting, starting pitching, and defense. In this current 4 game losing streak, the biggest liability is starting pitching.

What do you expect to happen throwing the Worcester pitching staff against these guys. Yes the sky is falling for the moment, but I’m not panicked yet. All the Sox have to do is stay afloat until the injured pitchers come back, and see what happens then. Whitlock, and Sale should be back soon, and then Evol. Of course that won’t help the shoddy defense, or get more production from Bogey, or the rest of the heart of the order, but I can’t believe they will stay this bad either, and start hitting again.

Facing Winckowski, Seabold and Crawford isn’t exactly ideal for the Sox, but I’ll take it. After some runs in the first half, literally nobody seems to want the top WC spot.

 

FYI, anyone actually look at what the WC games are. I thought it’d be two single elimination games, WC2 v WC3 then winner v WC1. I’m totally wrong. Here’s the format
