What do you expect to happen throwing the Worcester pitching staff against these guys. Yes the sky is falling for the moment, but I’m not panicked yet. All the Sox have to do is stay afloat until the injured pitchers come back, and see what happens then. Whitlock, and Sale should be back soon, and then Evol. Of course that won’t help the shoddy defense, or get more production from Bogey, or the rest of the heart of the order, but I can’t believe they will stay this bad either, and start hitting again.

All good points, almost exactly the mantra that moonslav preaches.

Plus we are very lucky to be Sox fans during the John Henry era with its MLB-leading four WS wins in 20 seasons.

2019 was a letdown and the end of the Dombrowski era, which culminated in a fantastic 2018 season and the 4th WS wins.

2020, Bloom's first, received the full force of the pandemic. 2021 was exciting, especially the postseason, and suggested Bloom and Cora were a good pairing/team.

2022 has been unusually down, up--including the best West Coast trip in years--and now down again thanks to the dissolution of the rotation--Sale, Eovaldi, Whitlock, Wacha, and Hill are all still on the IL. Throw in the lineup slump, the sloppy defense in the outfield and at 1B, and having to play 17 games without a break, including 14 straight vs. the Rays and Yankees.

And you/we end up exactly where you said: hoping this too will pass and the essential worth of this team will emerge.

If anything good comes out of this mess it could be that if the injured pitches come back healthy you will have a bunch of fresh arms coming down the stretch, and the post season.

Agree. We need them healthy with good command and good stuff. Sale may not have the command + stuff. Whitlock should be fine. Hill doesn't matter much. So we really need Eovaldi and Wacha to be good.

I'm not all that optimistic about Hill, either, but I would not write him off. He could become a key pen piece down the stretch and maybe allow us to pool our resources to get one solid RP'er rather than 2 decent ones. (Wink might be able to do that, too.)

Getting awfully tired of watching solo blasts followed by the same guy making outs with men on base.

Players going 3 for 4, and the one out was the time we really needed an out.

It's just one game, but this is becoming a pattern.

LOBs, Solo HRs, DPs . All were characteristics of the April-early May losses. Now they are back with a vengeance. As odd as it sounds, last night's game could have been tied up in late innings on multiple occassions with a timely, dare I say "clutch" hit.
