Hey look, two straight wins. Will that shut you people up? I wish

Today's win, given the Sox struggles @ Toronto and Chicago and the fact that the Rays just took 3 straight from the Jays, was huge. Given all the good arms currently on the DL, this might be my favorite win so far this season.

Nothing will shut down the boo birds, however.

We are basically winning without our best 5 out of our best 6-7 starters!

Nate

Sale

Wacha

Hill

Paxton

Seems like all of them are very close to come back which will be very interesting if specially Sale and Paxton pan out.

I think adding Paxton just pads the list. He was a planned absence since the day he signed…

The Sox still made 24 outs today!! What about THAT?!?

True, but I left Whitlock off the list.

Kutter was the star today. He had a great feel for all his pitches and had the Rays completely off balance. Schrieber continues to be amazing. Great win!

How long must Schreiber do well, before he's not viewed as some "flash?"

Side-by-side with the greatest pitcher in the history of this year, Clay Holmes.

C.Homie: 2.0 WAR, 6th on NY, G 36, IP 37, ERA 0.49, WHIP 0.73.

Schribes: 1.7 WAR, 6th on RS, G 28, IP 27, ERA 0.66, WHIP 0.66.

The "flash" part of the question was not addressed.

Homie was very good, last year, too.

Probably for the rest of the season...

I'm not sure, if he's had nasty stuff like this before, but he's not having a season like this on smoke & mirrors. His stuff looks legit. (So did Barnes', last spring.)

Plus some lock downs against the Yankees in coming up series, and some lock downs in the postseason.

When Whitlock returns--I'm hoping for this weekend vs. the Yankees--the Sox will have a pretty good bullpen with Schreiber, Houck, Whitlock, Davis, Sawamura, Diekman, and possibly Brasier/Danish/Strahm. Of course, the Yankees lineup leads the AL in runs scored and is 2d in OPS.

For this Rays series and this weekend's 4 games vs. the Yankees, the rotation will continue to be patchwork: tonight Pivetta, tomorrow Bello, Thursday Winckowski, Friday Seabold, Saturday Wacha/Crawford, Sunday Pivetta, and Monday Bello again.

For the final 7 games (4 at @ Tampa, 3 @ NYC), however, it's possible we will see Sale Eovaldi, and Wacha--Plus Whitlock in the bullpen.

I suspect Bloom will demote Crawford, Seabold, Bello and Winckowski once pitchers start coming off the IL, but I'd like to see us keep at least 1-2 as pen depth. DFA Robles and maybe demote Danish. Davis is out of options, as are most of the rest of our pen, except Sawamura, who I doubt will be demoted.
