The A's are positioning themselves to fly away from Oakland as did the Chargers from San Diego. It would not be productive to have a strong team on the field, so ownership can blame it on the fans and the City for not supporting the team and a new stadium on the Oakland harbor. Oakland truly sucks as a place to be, kind of like Tampa/St. Pete .

3-1 A's after three. About right given how much better Blackburn is than Hill. Had JDM's blooper not been mishandled, the score would be 3-0.

There's no excuse for his lack of offense of late, but I really can't criticize his defense. He's been pretty damn good defensively at 2nd.

Story has been moved to a different league (and a whole bunch of new pitchers) and a new position. Nevertheless, his WAR to date is 1.5 to Bogey's 2.7.

 

So, yes, give me Bogey over Story, but right now I'm rooting for Story simply to play well and help the Sox.

Five lefty bats for the Sox again today, and they have 4 of the Sox 6 hits. Bogey, Story, and Vazquez are hitless--as is Devers.

 

Nevertheless, Devers walked intentionally to get to JDM with his 2 hits. And it worked--easy groundout for 3d out.
