LHP Jared Koenig (0-1, 9.00) vs RHP Nick Pivetta (5-5, 3.78)

Recently I have been struggling with my mental health so tonight I took a walk down Ipswich and Lansdowne to see my favorite place in the world. Pretty cool to be walking around on a perfect summer night when there is no game on. Don't think I've ever done that before. Most of my office is going to Thursday's game, but I have to drive home to CT to take care of something.

I hope the walk helped with whatever you are going through

When I lived in Boston, I always loved walking around Fenway when there wasn't a game. Then just walk down by the Charles and either head downtown or walk over to Cambridge.

Yeah I go to the Esplanade probably once a week at this point. I love Cambridge but haven't gotten to explore as much as I would like. Last night I walked around BU after hitting Fenway. One of my favorite things to do when I get a night off from other stuff is to take the T to a stop I've never been to before and walk around for awhile

Busy season is over. College kids are gone. Enjoy the city.

Davis Sq is pretty cool if you haven't been there yet.

Take the Orange Line to Forest Hills and walk around the Arnold Arboretum. It's close enough to walk around JP from there.

Having pushed the team over .500 finally, is this the week to get the 13-14 Fenway record over the line also? The Sox need to get better at home since the differential over the rest of the season is +7 Fenway games. That will shift to -2 after this 9 game home stand featuring Oakland (3-0 sweep), Cardinals (2-1) and the Tigers (2-1) for a 7-2 week+ . Actually could catch the Rays and jays over this period. Need to build some momentum going into the A-S break July 18-21. After that run, Bloom will need to decide is he a seller, buyer, or just fixing a loose lug nut on one wheel.

I might be in a small minority, but I think Bloom might choose to be a seller, even if we are within 3-5 games- up od down- of the last WC slot.

I think the long term plan is the top priority, but losing fans might be the only think holding him back- not like that is a minor thing.

Losing what fans though? People were complaining on here that nobody cares about the Sox anymore and that only 18,000 people ever show up to the games. Then I go look at the attendance and they are still well over 30k even though the other two local professional teams were currently in the playoffs, the Sox tickets are the second highest in MLB, the economy is iffy and the team has been even iffier at times.

My best guess is that his plan for the pretrade deadline period will be one mid level relief pitcher , and one upgraded RH bench bat (replace Arroyo ?) . It will look similar to 2021 moves. I believe the issue of starting pitching will be left to Sale first, and Paxton second to revive their currently moribund careers. Neither is any guarantee of anything except they get paid. Chronic conditions for EO ( back strain) and Whitlock (hip) could change that mix significantly. Josh Taylor's recovery could help a lot if his back heals.

Other than a piece in a trade, Dalbec will be here all year as will Cordero . As will Matt Barnes and probably Plawecki.

Sorry for using the Game Thread for these thoughts, should be in the main Forum threads

Is the attendance figures tickets sold, or what actually comes through the gate?

Arroyo in RF tonight, which I don’t like at all especially in Fenway. Just because he is a RHH he’s not hitting much of anything.

I am on my way to the game. Picked up some student 9s. Great night for a CPA exam study break

The Sox continue to be in a relatively soft stretch in the schedule. They need to keep on capitalizing on it just as they have been doing. There is no good reason for not feasting on a very weak Oakland club.

The Mets have the highest payroll this year at 260 million followed by the Dodgers at 259 million. The SOX are 6th at 202 million. At number 29 is Oakland at 48 million and at 30 is Baltimore at 46 million.

The league average is 147 million.
