Watching the Cubs tonight, I saw Cubs SS Nico Hoerner possibly make the worst defensive play I have ever seen in MLB game me.

With the shift on and a ball batted to the right side he 1) collided with David Bote 2) held the ball for several seconds while the runner headed to third and then 3) threw the ball to an unmanned third base. Watch for it on MLB tonight…

In Little League, some coaches ban throws to third base, where almost every throw guarantees at least one run scored by the time they are finally fetched and retrieved.

And they should be booted from Little League and banned for life.

The Orioles have won 7 in a row and are currently only 2 games under .500. More importantly, they are only 3 games out of the 2nd wildcard spot. They have played .600 ball since June 1.

I don't foresee them continuing to play at that pace, nor do I see them making the postseason, but you never know. Either way, with the expanded playoffs, teams like the Os and their fanbases have something to be excited about at the half way point of the season.

It also adds some intrigue to the trade deadline.

They did learn from their mistakes and by learning to no longer throw to 3rd.

I'm thinking the O's will be sellers, even if they are over .500 at the deadline.

Has there ever been a division where all teams finished at or above .488?

The ALE currently has 5 teams in the top 9 AL teams in wins.

5 in the top 17 in MLB!!!

BAL is 1.5 games away from the ALE having 5 of the top 15 teams!

And that's with the teams having to play each other so many times.

I think we can confidently say that the AL East is the class of baseball this year. Even Harmony would have to agree with us. :)

The Mariners are suddenly tied with the Jays for the 3rd WC spot. They have won 8 in a row.

Surging teams: Mariners and Orioles

Reeling teams: Jays and Guardians

Stay tuned.

New Blue Jays manager should get off to a fast start; 10 Kansas City Royal players will miss a four game set in Toronto due to unvaccinated status.

Royals will be missing all 3 of their starting outfielders plus their primary backup of, their main utility guy, both catchers, 2 starting pitchers and a reliever.

The Jays will be playing a bunch of AA and AAA players.

Beni among 10 Royals placed on restricted list, as he is unvaccinated.

One more reason to like the Wink/Cordero-Beni deal more than before.

He's having an awful season season, but he was alright before.

Another aging lefty reliever named Jake! :)

Extremely brief former Sox RP Brusdar Graterol to the Injured List. Bloom clearly knew something I didn’t there…

Michael Yaz hit a walk off homer to beat the Brewers last night . A grand slam. Off Josh Hader , no less. Must have been a proud moment for Grandpa. Edited by dgalehouse

Jay's fire Montoyo. They are an overatted team anyways. I've been saying that since the season started.

I have been disappointed in the Jays this year. Not that I want them to win over the Sox, but I figured they would be better than they are. I'd rather they be leading the division by a lot than the Yankees.

I didn't realize that KC would be missing so many players. The Jays should be required to play without the same number and positions of players that the visiting team is playing without.

The Jays are all vaccinated though.

You can blame my Prime Minister for this debacle, I'm fine with that.

I just think it's very unfair for teams not to be able to play at full strength because of vaccination status. Give the Jays the same 'penalty', regardless of vaccination status, to make things more fair.
