And Kike obviously likes him, to come back without testing free agency!

On August 1st, JD again stated he wants to stay in Boston.

We all know Bogey does.

Vaz seemed upset he was forced to leave.

Kike re-signs.

I'm sure we will hear Wacha and/or others saying similar things, this fall.

Sounds like a hostile work environment in need for a management change!

I don’t think the amount of players wanting to stay, and play in Boston has Anything to do so, because of Bloom, but all to do with playing in Fenway in front of Red Sox Nation. To think they are wanting to stay, because they do, or don’t like Bloom is way out there in LF. The lure of playing in Fenway has been there for many many years, and I don’t think even Bloom could drive them away if the money is right.

No reporter mentioning anything good being said about Bloom does not mean nothing good was said or felt.

It's pure speculation- something he seems to frown upon with others.

I would think it would be more pure speculation to say the the clubhouse is happy with Bloom than it would be to say the clubhouse is not happy with Bloom.

I think it's all irrelevant speculation except for media and fans who are campaigning to get Bloom fired.

It's always about the money, and if Bloom overpays them, they'll love him (until he trades their A$$E$!)

If Bloom produced better than a losing last place in the Div team you wouldn’t have to worry about that. It’s all pretty much about the present, and what have you done lately scenario. Lots of the Nation is not so patient as others.

Whether Bloom is liked, or isn’t liked is not about the money.

Kike Hernandez was re-signed for 2023 for 10 mil. A 3 mil raise from 2022. He missed a bunch of games and has hit .227 with an OPS of 650. Bloom promised him the team would be better in 2023. I guess Kike is pretty happy.

I wasn’t against bringing Kike back, but for $10M I’m pretty sure the Red Sox could have done better.

So even when Bloom does bring guys back he gets knocked. Kind of says it all.

You don’t think they could of done better with $10M? Would you give JD, and Evol a raise after this year?

I think $10M was about right for Kike. Yes it's a raise, but it's also only a one-year deal.

I just think it's funny that Bloom gets knocked on one hand for letting guys go and on the other for re-signing one of them.

So with all the problems the Red Sox have signing Kike for $10M should have been priority #1? Like I asked before you don’t think the Red Sox could have done better than Kike for $10M?.?? I’ve heard many times on here that the Red Sox only have so much money to spend, so 1 year, or not it counts towards next years payroll.

No, it's not my intention to start a new argument about the Kike signing.

But I will say that just because the deal was done before the season ended sure as heck doesn't mean it was the #1 priority. It probably just means it came together quickly and easily. Come on man!

Well my opinion is the Red Sox could have done better than Kike for $10M, so I guess we just disagree on that. Ok I agree that it probably happened quickly, so I’m with you on that.

I think it’s pretty unlikely they do better than Kike for a one year deal. He’s still one of the best defensive centerfielders in the game and shouldn’t be judged solely by batting average…

Kike is a good CF, but if you think they’re aren’t better players out there for $10M I think you’re wrong.

No, but it's not about what they did in 2022. It's about age, trends and with Nate- injuries.

Kike would have gotten $10M as a FA- likely $18M/2 or $25M/3.

If Chris Taylor got $60M/4, Kike has to be worth $10M/1.

We did offer Bogey a contract- likely before Kike's.

Chris Taylor was a versatile 31-year-old coming off a 3.1 fWAR season when the 2021 All Star landed the four-year, $60 million contract. At that point Taylor had posted 15.5 fWAR in 743 career games.

Kiki Hernandez is a versatile 31-year-old who has posted 0.4 fWAR so far this season while landing the one-year, $10 million contract for 2023. Hernandez has posted 12.3 fWAR in 902 career games.

Thank you for supporting my point.

How about previous 2 year fWAR?

4.7 Taylor

4.5 Kike

Previous 5 years?

11.3 Taylor

8.6 Kike

Taylor $15M x 1

Kike $10M x 1

It was those last 3 fWAR that got him $50mil extra…

I don’t think the Nation will accept anything less than being competitive in 2023. Losing more NESN ratings, and attendance will get JH attention if this year didn’t.

The question still is could the Sox have done better than Kike for 1 yr, and $10M?

It’s so cute how you own off your impatience on everyone else. “Really!! It’s not me who thinks people should get fired after one last place season! I still remember last season!! It’s not me! It’s… everyone else!! It’s Red Sox Nation! They’re the ones judging everything on this year! And they’re everywhere! They’re membership might even include YOU!

I give my opinions like everyone else, and mention what I hear everywhere else. Is there something wrong with that? Just, because they don’t align with yours, or some others it seems to ruffle some feathers. Opinions are just that opinions, and nothing more, or less just like everyone’s. You want everyone to share the same opinions? Not going to happen here, or anywhere else.

My point is you started giving your opinion but saying it wasn’t yours, but everyone else’s…
