The main job of a manager is to give his team the best chance of winning. Apparently, Cora is above that. And calling him 'inflexible' is being too kind.

No, the main job of a manager is to give his team the best chance of winning over the course of 162 games.

Personally, I’ll take the opinion of a guy who played 14 years and 1400+ games at the major league level(and was a regular for several years early in his career).

The best part of today's Sox lineup? Our DH is hitless for the season.

Earlier, I locked him in for a 1 for 4 day. He's busting out in a big way!

Book it.

Cora knows exactly what he is doing with today's line-up; he's playing his "key" bench guys to show Bloom how bad it is so there'll be roster changes before it's too late.

There is no excuse for Arroyo to wait back on a grounder and try to backhand it, when he could've just moved one more step and fielded it in front of his body (basic fundamentals, at any level). And this may be Shaw's last game. It should surprise no one if he doesn't accompany the club to Baltimore.

Shaw will be here until they deem Casas ready. He’s not taking PT away from anybody; he’s not platooning. Today is his 7th game, and most of his games have been when JD has been hurt.

He is way down the list of offensive issues right now.

I'm rethinking my massive support of Cora.

At this point I think its time to realize that on occasion Cora lets his inner Belichick eat. You just have to know that Cora knows his days off thing for players just drives us right up the wall.

Well, both Cora and Belichick are arrogant as hell, but Belichick has earned that arrogance much more than Cora has.

Based on what's going on in the SOX organization at this point, I believe the following is a serious question to ask. Will the SOX be better than the O's next season?

A serious question should not be asked in the Gamethread

Eck discussing this year's abortion of a ML baseball.

I have been critical of this whole messing with the baseballs thing since 2015. I actually think MSB literally does not know what it is doing. Has changed the baseball so many times over such a short time span that they simply have lost track of where they were, where they are and where they are going.

There is little question now that it was Venable who messed this team up. AC comes back and in one game all is well in the Nation. Hitters hit, pitchers pitch and Bogaerts gets a day off.

Well Venables in game stuff is flat awful IMO. I was tempted to post up "please take out Robles" instead of letting him pitch to Kiermaier the other night. Leaving Robles in seemed such an obvious bad decision. But paying attention to my own self imposed rule, which I am breaking today, I was not posting in game threads when I had not been able to commit to watching the entire game.
