IIRC, they talked about it but with the shortened spring training and the limited times they can yank guys up and down to and from the minors, they decided to keep it for this season. I believe it’s gone next year, but who knows.

 

I think they could compromise. Play it traditional for 12 and then use the runner in the 13th.
