I look forward to this calm and reasonable discussion about Baltimore, when all I know about Baltimore is the tv show the Wire and the truck stop that once had Burger Time.

The nicest area of Baltimore is the Inner Harbor. However, no human being has ever visited this area without being accosted by homeless people…

Baltimore's corruption is endemic. No city has its record of persistent corruption. Baltimore is one of Americas most dangerous cities. Its violent crime rate is over 300 percent above the national average. I used to regularly attend meetings downtown. The route in and out of the office was through whole city blocks of abandoned and dilapidated row houses. I used the same driving techniques as I used in war torn San Salvador during the civil war there in the late eighties.

Look at how Baltimore keeps losing population every year as further proof that it is a shithole.

To get out of her La Jolla comfort zone I have encouraged my 23-year-old daughter to experience Baltimore for two years.

Carefully, I hope.

If they were more considerate of fans when making decisions addressing the length of the games and other issues, I think they would increase attendance and viewership enormously, and these dopes would have a growing and renewing fan base and more money for the greedy bastards to split up.

What's really frustrating is that they're not that far apart on most of the key issues. And it's definitely going to be a much better deal for the players than the last one. Yet here we are.

Why not just send her to Mars?

The shock value going from La Jolla to Baltimore might be a bit too much. You should have her transition her way there. Maybe start with 6 months in Topeka or Little Rock first…

You can say the same thing about anywhere in SF.

Now, they are messing with the MLB.tv. For many years, you would get almost every game except for local games. Now, they are selling hundreds of games to Apple TV and Peacock. You need 3 subscriptions plus local cable to get all of the games.

And mlb.tv is useless for the postseason. The rates for it better be cut in half.

I googled top 100 most dangerous cities and BAL I’m not on the list.

I googled "most dangerous cities in the USA" and this is what was shown on the screen above the links:

10 Most Dangerous Cities in America (#1 is the highest cost of crime)

St. Louis, Missouri.

Jackson, Mississippi.

Detroit, Michigan.

New Orleans, Louisiana.

Baltimore, Maryland.

Memphis, Tennessee.

Cleveland, Ohio.

Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Maybe it’s more about perception as BAL has the 6th highest Black population, so maybe some view that as being the real issue.

Another site has them 3rd in highest violent crimes.

I guess it depends on the site.

No doubt, Baltimore has some dangerous areas. So does Houston.

I heard they were just about to shake on everything... and then the owners proposed mandatory stirrups and sanitaries. For themselves!

Lmao!

My daughter may apply to a graduate program that gets more applicants from California than from any other state. On a forum, Californians extol the benefits of the stark adjustment. One student noted the difference between "Disneyland and a war zone." Another opined: Southern California, “where everything is sugar-coated all the time. … In Baltimore, it’s just real, and raw.”

4 of the top 5 are in states that start with M.

Los Angeles? Sugar coated?

Uh, USC is in the middle of South Central.

I guess it depends on if you just consider Southern California as just Santa Barbara, Orange County and San Diego?

Harm , These type of discussions usually devolve into politics , so I don't want to get involved in it. I have not been to Baltimore in years , but I have a relative who was there for a few days recently on business. He said it was in shockingly bad shape and dangerous. Based on that , I would not advise going there at this time. That's all I have.

It seems an agreement will be reached very soon. But there will be damage done to the game that will be hard to repair. It's really a shame.

If they get nearly a full season, what damage has been done?
