Carlos Correa is the closest thing to a young Arod we may ever see without PED

You know ERAs are more deceiving for relievers, and don't account for inherited baserunners. Robles helped down the stretch, but he and Bloom were exposed in the ALCS, when Houston's midseason bullpen acquisition -- Graveman -- was lights out.

Houston gave up a 24yo power-hitting versatile infielder with minimal service time to acquire Graveman. Who did the Sox have as an equivalent?

Agreed, but Robles will likely be our 8th RP'er.

And he’s on a minor league deal. Why is he even being mentioned with Correa?

For Kendall Graveman (and Rafael Montero), the Astros also gave up veteran reliever Joe Smith, today's Twins signee who outperformed Graveman for the balance of the 2021 season.

Hansel Robles has an established career record as a 4.0 ERA guy. Your basic ham and egger. He throws hard and can get some strikeouts, so he has some value. But he is not a guy you really want to count on. He is the kind of guy you add to your bullpen when you don't want to spend more on someone better.

Shaw and Robles? What is Bloom trying to do? Field a AAA team?

Well, yes.

The minor league contracts are just a gimmick to manage the roster. Guys like Robles and Shaw are not signed to help " rebuild the farm" . If they look like they can help the Sox , they will get major league contracts. That is obviously the purpose of signing them. The minor league contracts mean nothing.

The minor league contracts:

1. Don’t bump anyone off the 40 man roster

2. Typically require a player to earn their way to the parent club

3. Are extremely handy as injuries pile up

4. Don’t carry heavy long term commitments that limit future moves, and

5. Don’t affect the current payroll until necessary

No one said anything about rebuilding the farm. But they’re not a gimmick; they’re a necessity

Based on the pitching staff in general.

Didn’t we feel this way in March last year? Heck I felt 2021 was going to be a looooong season after they opened up getting swept by Baltimore…

2021 is long gone, and has nothing to do with this year just like 2019 had nothing to do with 2018. Things worked out last year, but as close as they were to the WS they were just as close to not even making the postseason. The AL East to me has gotten better, but I can’t say the same about the Sox at this point.

The point is preseason evaluations, while not totally worthless, are not necessarily accurate either…

You graduated from the university of Mexico City? Is it true the diplomas from there are written with invisible ink?

Actually, I studied Spanish a C.E.P.E. at U.N.A.M. (basically the University of Mexico City), but I graduated from Notre Dame.

Correa teammates are taken back he left to be with Minny .Kinda blown away he would leave that team in Houston for a perennial Loser in the Twins ? Something had to have broken in that relationship.Could Boston actually not extend Bogey and trade and extend Correa Mid season ? Is that even an option for the twins ? See if Bogey would ok the trade to the twins ? With a negotiation window with Correa ? I don’t see this happening just too many moving parts .Interesting though if Bogey won’t extend .

If the Twins's plan is to trade Correa at the deadline , I'm pretty sure they would want young prospects in return. I don't think they would be interested in Bogaerts.

As much as I love SS defense, Correa is just out hurt, too often and is very inconsistent at the plate.

It's close, but I like Bogey more, too.

I sure Bogey would ok a trade to the Twins. NOT.
