Carlos Correa is the closest thing to a young Arod we may ever see without PED

Kennedy said the Sox are “sticking to their plan”. The plan was NOT to contend in 21.

Kennedy said the goal was to be competitive every year.

Correa would be the worst signing since CC.

Pablo Sandoval will disagree once he is done with his lunch…

Yes, but he also said the sox had a plan when they hired Bloom. My guess is the plan was to build up the minors to be a replenishing font of talent with which to make trades or replace free agent veterans. They are not there yet. They are still in the talent accumulation phase. The plan, IMO, was for them to be middling to below average last year and this year, deal off the big contracts of Xander and JDM while they held value, and make moves for younger, controllable players. When the sox contended last year, they couldnt jettison the expensive pieces without telling their fan base they were giving up

Oa Lito made less than half what Correa will make.

And my goal is to make $5 billion this year. But not every goal is achievable…

And provided one tenth of the production….

That remains to be seen.

Pablito did hit .778 the last 2 years of his deal while with SF.

That's more than Correa has hit in 2 of his last 4 seasons.

BTW, Correa is at .811 over the last 4 years, combined- certainly not "elite" as someone keeps repeating over and over. That's not a whole lot better than Story's career away OPS of .752.

(Not meant as an endorsement of Story.)

How much of Story’s is hitting in Colorado?

Story would do terrific here .Correa would be magnificent here .

I would take either one in a heartbeat, but would prefer Correa.

I know that if we sign Correa or story,, bogey would have to move to second base, and while bogey might not like it, the fact remains, bogey literally has hundreds of millions of reasons to have the best possible year he can this year.

Larry I feel the same way .Bogey is my favorite Redsox of all time he’s litteraly our Derek Jeter and I’d keep Bogey around knowing he is plenty athletic enough to play A decent second a fantastic First a passable 3rd and SS and I’d absolutely like him to move to LF from time to time down the line .Knowing his versatility I’m offering Xander 7 years 217 .Devers is a 1b DH type right already weather the team admits it or not and he’s never going to be gold glove caliber at 1b .Devers I offer 5 years 125 plus incentives of 10 million for an MVP season for both men and 5 million for a gold glove 2 million silver slugger .I understand these are not eye popping amounts of money .I could see Chaim extending Bogey in the 250 range it’s not my money ...hell would anyone give a s*** if Chaim made Bogey a Redsox for life and hit the guy with 9 years 315 ? I may cry I’d be so happy .correa and story are just better SS now and that’s ok . Edited by Swiharts Ghost

The Twinkies signed Correa and the Red Sox still need an OF bat and pitching. Hansel Robles is a joke.

Agreed, but Robles will likely be our 8th RP'er.

Robles had a 3.60 ERA for us last year. Not really that bad?

You know ERAs are more deceiving for relievers, and don't account for inherited baserunners. Robles helped down the stretch, but he and Bloom were exposed in the ALCS, when Houston's midseason bullpen acquisition -- Graveman -- was lights out.

Our offense got shut down completely the last 3 games of the series.

Point is, Robles was unreliable the entire postseason, while Houston added quality relievers mid-season who helped win the pennant. In the World Series, the three acquisitions -- Graveman, Maton and Yimi Garcia -- pitched 13.2 innings and gave up one run.

After his first 4 games with the Sox, Robles put up these numbers in his last 23 outings of 2021:

21.2 IP

13 H

12 BB

28 K

2.08 ERA (3.59 FIP)

.575 OPS Against

Inherited Runners Scored: 29%

Playoffs:

5.1 IP in 6 outings

7 H

1 BB

5 K

5.29 ERA

OK, but "Bloom got exposed" is a little over the top. We beat the Yankees and the Rays and had a great chance to beat the Stros.

I know people really like to over emphasize postseason stats, but Robles threw 4 1/3 innings last year in the postseason. (I’m not counting his 1-2-3 inning vs NY, since I doubt you are either.)
