Cora needs to disguise Kike to look like VAZ so that Kike can bat twice in the line-up.

I like your way of thinking.

The problem would be, he'd double and then be on base when the real Kike is due up to bat.

He'd have to have Kike/VAZ batting 5th in the line-up. Of course, that might look suspicious.

Or PR for "Vaz" before Kike comes to the on deck circle.

Or Kike/Arroyo because I believe Plawecki will be catching tomorrow. Again, having Arroyo batting 5th would also look very suspicious.

I'm confident Cora will make it work.

Lets hope Eovaldi can shut down the Astros next game.

He will have to be sharp from pitch one. This lineup will not give him the luxury of finding his footing.

I also think Arroyo should have gotten the grounder before Altuve's HR. Inning would have been over.

It was a difficult play, the ball was ripped. Arroyo isn't the kind of 2b who makes plays like that.

I think the bigger question is why did Braiser only pitch .1 of an inning? I don't like how the Red Sox are using Houck, I would save him for game 4.

But the bigger problem is the pitching. The bullpen isn't strong enough to hold leads and the starters are failing to go deep into games. Sale looks like garbage, and the Red Sox need him to be an ace or at least a solid two starter. The Red Sox just don't have the pitching to win a championship this year.

I think us SOX fans expected too much from Sale after TJ surgery. I believe the Sale we wanted to see finishing this season will be delayed until next season.

I agree, but the problem is without Sale performing as a top pitcher, the Red Sox just don't have the pitching talent to get them across the finish line this year.

They stand a better chance of winning a championship next year.

Nothing is guaranteed next year. This team just needs to bounce back tomorrow badly.

Stranger things have happened, but w/o a more effective Sale it will definitely be a tough nut to crack. One thing's for certain; we're having more fun right now than any Yankem or Rays' fan.

MLB would probably make a new rule to prevent that . The " One Kike " rule. Maybe check DNA after every game.

Right -- players could wear pinstripes and be heavy preseason favorites, or win 100 games and finish first -- and still not get this far in the playoffs.

Am I the only one that thought Correa's antics after the HR were a little over the top?

He's always pimping something. When he hit a walkoff a few years ago vs. NY, he was holding his hand to his ear as he trotted. After the scandal, I just assumed it was acknowledgement to the dugout that he heard the trash can bang or the buzzer go off.

There's way too much pimping and in-game celebrating in baseball now. A guy gets a base hit with his team getting blown out and he still has to make the big signal to the dugout.

And frankly the Red Sox have been about as guilty of this as any team. In 2018 guys were doing a little shimmy dance for the dugout when they got a hit. Mookie came up with that sprinkle thing he does.

He still does it in LA. Because he can.

It looked to me like Arroyo did not break quickly enough. Yes, it was a hard hit ball, but the bad first step hurt his chances.

I thought brining in Houck to face the meat of the line-up was a good call.

I thought it made sense to go with multiple RP'ers in game one, after so many rest days. Now, we have Pivetta and Whitlock as long men for game 2. If we don't use Pivetta, maybe he can start or relieve ERod in game 3.

Speaking of "pitching," the Astros pitching is no better than ours, right now. We just faced their best available starter, and they faced our worst.

Stay positive. We got this!

I didn't expect much, but as bad as our starters were, I just hoped for an improvement, which we got, until now.

He started out doing well. Yes, he faced easy opponents out of the gate, but we were losing to easy teams back then, so it was hard not to get overly excited about what we were seeing.

I still think he may have a good game or two in him before these playoffs are over, but I'm not counting on it.

He'd still be doing it in Boston too, is my pointless hypothetical response to that. :)

And Betts will try to do it again in Boston in a few weeks, when LA visits for all the maahbills, is my most contrived optimistic comeback.

Remember when posters were criticizing Bloom for signing a "utility guy" named Kike to play FT at 2B and CF?

We are nowhere without Kike, and I'm not just talking about the playoffs.

Speaking of the playoffs, this year, Kike is hitting .500!

28 ABs

6 singles

4 doubles

4 homers

+ great defensive plays

Career playoffs:

12 HRs in 150 ABs

.908 OPS

Besides Sawamura, Kike is the only guy Bloom signed for more than one year.

Carlos Correa is the MLB Player I hate the most.

It usually takes a season after TJS to get full command back, he's still rehabing

This game was very winable, we should have won, still too many ducks left on the pond and horrible strikeouts on ball 4. We were not blown out and beat ourselves, tonight is a big big game

It was a good game. Could have gone either way. Both teams had trouble getting the big hit with runners on. In the end , the insurance run the Astros scored in the eighth proved to be the difference.

Ha ha! This is getting way too close to "Get off my lawn!" territory for a young guy like you!

I'm 65, and I don't complain much about players' antics. But I've really noticed a change in how baseball players act on the field. It's almost like baseball is trying to be more like football.

You're certainly right about that. NFL, however, while allowing celebrations, still strictly enforces the taunting rule, as I think they should. (Not sure that rule applies to MLB, but if players start acting like a-holes, maybe it will) Apparently they know that if they allow or encourage it, every league from college all down to PeeWee will have players getting into opponents' faces, and no one (other than overly entitled parents perhaps) wants to see that.

65? Yeah, still young. Enjoy it, my friend!
